Swiftfire had been late to the meeting, entering camp as Twilightstar called the kits up. A squirrel clamped in her jaws, she looked very confused by the commotion. New apprentices? And what was the deal with the Riverclanners in their camp? Did every Clan think they could just waltz into WindClan now? If we don't tighten our borders again, and soon, another invasion could only be one very bad day away, Swiftfire worried.

She heard a few cries call out "Peachfrost", a few murmurs to clue her in that WindClan finally had a new medicine cat, and another warrior: Beeblaze. Also a former medicine cat, now a warrior. Padding to the fresh-kill pile, Swiftfire deposited the squirrel and licked her jaws as she moved to join the meeting, sprawling out on her belly near the back. She didn't need to see the meeting, only hear it, and she was tired. Hunting all morning, and all she had to show was one squirrel, even if it was plump. That hadn't meant it wasn't as clever or faster than any other squirrel. Rolling onto her side to lounge, Swiftfire pricked her ears, wanting to seem more alert than she felt.

Sharpkit peeked in too, but then remembered that she was blind and couldn't see anything. I forgot I'm blind? Well, that's a first. She sniffed it and even went in a tiny bit.

Silentstorm watched the leaders face intently. New apprentices, that was what was coming next right? Figures. She watched Twilightstars mouth move into what four-five names? She wasn't certain how many, but she hoped that one of them would become hers. She liked the position that put her in. Close enough to maybe become deputy. Not that she wanted that, Silentstorm knew she was too young. But it would be so great. She purred at the thought.

The bengal she-cat stared at the leader's eyes, trying to get a clue about who would be the mentors, but before she could follow her line of sight, she froze. Was that anxiety hiding behind her one-eyed gaze? No. She hoped it wasn't. Had Twilightstar found out about Miststone? That couldn't make her look that nervous though. The worst part of being deaf was that she never knew what was going. Had something happened that she hadn't learned of? Probably, no one takes the time to tell me anything. She frowned and glared in Twilightstars direction, although the likelihood of being noticed was small enough already.

Owltalon shook his head as she pulled up beside him. "They have to be close," he replied. "The scent is pretty fresh." He put his nose to the ground and followed the trail.

How was life? Other than her fox-heart of a mentor, it was okay. She fluffed out her fur to cover the red clawmarks Jaggedscar had left last time they trained. "Nothing much. I caught my first rabbit this morning, so I guess that's something. It had a broken leg, though. But I guess it's better than nothing."

Puddlesplash’s grin widened. ”Oh, great job! Was it exciting?” He retained fond memories of catching his first rabbit moons ago. The first few times he’d hunted had felt so exhilarating and therefore, they held a special place in his heart. “How’s your training going? Anywhere close to becoming a warrior?” He couldn’t recall when Flickerpaw had been apprenticed, and therefore didn’t have a guess as to how far in her training she might be. It could potentially be a bit embarrassing if it turned out she wasn’t anywhere near warriorhood yet, but he tried not to let that bother him.

A queen padded out of the nursery and yawned, stretching. After a moment of throughly washing her sleek pelt, Miststone glanced up and saw Rainingtail disappear into the territory. I wish I could go hunting, she thought, as she hurried to the entrance and stared out at Windclan’s territory.
