The crowd grew faster than he had fist expected - but at the same time, he wasnt that surprised. The confusion was evident on the faces of those who hadnt heard of the attack yet, but those who were there to witness the horrific event seemed to know exactly what the meeting was going to be about. Well... there wasnt any use in avoiding it, was there? They didnt have any time to waste.

An instinctual paw wrapped around Spiritpaw, barely even phased by the sudden appearance of the apprentice. Spirit always seemed to be able to sense when Eveningmist needed him the most, and the sight of the albino tom alone was enough to relax him slightly. Dipping his head to gratefully nuzzle the young apprentice, he let out a small, slightly strained purr, "Thank you so much" he murmured loud enough for only the apprentice to hear.

Now, it was time to get this over with. Straightening up, Eveningmist looked back out at his clanmates, his expression much more steady now that Spiritpaw was there. The new leader cleared his throat and took a deep breath before beginning to speak, "As many of you might already know, there has been an...attack on Buckstar. While out in the territory, Lionstorm murdered Buckstar because of the death of a Riverclanner who he presumed was killed by him. Lionstorm then proceeded to enter out camp and went on to kill several more cats when we tried to drive him out. Those cats include Dogspirit, Applepaw, and... Rainywhisker" at the mention of the former medicine cat, Eveningmists voice seemed to catch in his throat.

No, no there was no time for wallowing in guilt. The tom took a moment to recollect his thoughts before continuing, "With the help of Riverpaw, Thistlethorn, Porcupineberry, and several others, we drove him out. A patrol was sent to follow him to the border and ensure he didnt come back." The rosetted tom shot a grateful smile at the cats who had helped out with the attack. He went quiet, giving the cats a chance to respond.

Palepaw glowered her green eyes at Eveningmist, a growl tried to escape her throat as she sat sulkingly.

Houndkit looked up at Eveningmist. "WHAT?!" She screeched. That's why Mommy never came back. No. Mommy couldn't be dead. She sank to the ground, sobbing. "No! No!" Why hadn't anyone told her? She covered her face with her paws, wailing. "You're lying!" She yelled, in a pleading way, not challenging. "Tell me he's lying." She gripped the paw of the cat next to her. "Mommy's not dead. She's on patrol. A long patrol. That's why she hasn't come back to the nursery."

Rosekit stiffened. Buckstar?! Rainywhisker?! No, they couldn't be dead. What about Dogspirit? She had kits! Applepaw was too young!

Ashpool lowered her head, grief overwhelming her. A sob racked her body, but she fought to keep it in.

Aspenstrike just froze. Buckstar. The leader of her Clan. Dead?! Rainywhisker, former medicine cat. Also dead. Applepaw, the apprentice. DEAD?! Dogspirit, who had kits mewling in the nursery. Dead.

Her whole body was numb. All important ThunderClan cats.
Lionstorm must pay.
It wasn't RiverClan's fault.
Just their mentally ill leader.

Daisyfur walked the little kit. The poor thing..... Her mother was never coming back. The fluffy creamy cat padded over to her. "Shhhh.... It's okay." SHe purred in a small voice.

The newer queen rapped her tail around the small kit, making a blanket around the kit. "It's okay, Houndkit." She mewed softly again.

Houndkit was in the nursery, face buried in her mother's nest. She could still smell her scent. Warm and welcoming... faintly of the forest. She choked back a sob. "Mommy, come back... I miss you..." Her voice broke and she covered her face with her tiny dark brown paws. She wanted to murder Lionstorm. Rip his ears to shreds. But.. but even that wouldn't make Mommy come home. Nothing would.

She shredded the moss in a short fit of rage, then pulled it back together. The little dark brown point burrowed herself into the soft moss that still smelled like her mother. Lionstorm was back in his camp, being worshipped by his Clan. Everyone there loved him. The other kits- they had their mother. Or father. Houndkit never met her father, and her mother... it hurt worse because she knew her mother. She didn't grieve for her father because she didn't miss him. She never knew him.

As the area burst into chaos, the leaders eyes darkened in sorrow, his head dipping. Over the noise he could hear cat upon cat spoke up, he tried to listen to every one of them but some of their calls were muffled by the shouts of others. Slowly, though, his clanmates quieted down, and he took that as his chance to speak, "I wish that I said was false, I really do. But nothing was a lie, not a bit of it" his eyes sweeped over the cats gathered in front of him, his heart throbbing as two kits in particular caught his attention. They....oh stars, they were some of Dogspirits kits, werent they?

The tom practically forced himself to tear his gaze away from them, instead coming to stare at Spiderthroat. He couldnt help but slightly narrow his eyes at the warrior in return, his jaw clenching for a brief moment, "Spiderthroat,I do hope you realize that I will not stand by and let the other clans walk all over me. Forgive us? Forgive us for what, exactly? For defending our camp? For fighting back?" before he could continue, Eveningmist forced himself to take a moment and breath.

When he was relatively calmed down, he began speaking again, "We will not be initiating Riverclan in a battle. Lionstorm was the only cat who has wronged us in such an extreme way. Like Gingerpaw said, Riverclan is not our enemy right now. Lionstorm is. However, if Riverclan chooses to view us as the antagonists and engage us in battle, then so be it" this time, he spoke to the entire clan, steady voice ringing through the clearing.

Tawnypaw's eyes went wide. Battle?! But she didn't have any battle training yet! "But Eveningmist!" She started, her fur bristling as she bounded up. "If that happens and RiverClan does make us go into battle. What are we gonna do about the other apprentices?! Heck, I don't even have battle training yet!" She was scared. Not excited, but scared. She had NO experience at all yet and this could possibly make her more terrified than she already was. @Jackpot

The swirly brown cat nodded his head. This was a smart move, at least, too him it was. "The Clan needs to settle down, and recover for Lionstorm, after losing Buckstar and the other dead." Leafshred stated.
