RiverClan couldn't get the idea that they could just push around ThunderClan whenever they felt like it. He glared at Eveningmist. "If you let Buckstar's killing go by without a complaint, then the Clans will think they can bully us whenever they like."

"Pardon me, but would it hurt you to use your brain for once?" Thistlethorn asked, already annoyed with the cats speaking out. "You want to go pick a fight with RiverClan right now? That's a danger to us given we lost some cats, especially our leader. Besides, it was Lionstorm's choice to attack, and he suffered the consequences. Let's just leave them be for now, to rebuild our own Clan."

Hearing someone speak up, and assuming the cat was talking to him, Stormfang slowly turned around to glare at the warrior. "I'm using my brain right now," he retorted, raising his voice so it carried across the clearing. "Lionstorm just murdered our leader. We should have a problem with that if anyone of ThunderClan's cats were killed. That scum slaughtered our leader. The last thing we should be doing is sitting here and rebuilding." Stormfang's voice grew more animated and forceful. "We need a show of force to show those murderers what happened when you mess with us."

Houndkit pressed against the other kit, grateful for the comfort. "I... I miss her a lot." She whimpered. "I want her back, Berrykit!" Her eyes filled with tears and she fought back the wail rising in her throat. "I want her back." Her last sentence was more of a choked whisper.

Stormfang growled in frustration. It wasn't enough. Not until they had really given them a fight. Struggling to lay the fur down on his shoulders, he shot one last glare in Thistlethorn's direction, and sat down. He stared straight ahead with his head held high.

Berrykit wanted to tell Houndkit that her mother was coming back, that she was okay...but lying about it wasn't going to make anything better. Dogspirit was dead, and her kits had been left motherless. But she did believe in StarClan, as most Clan cats did, and her ears perked a bit.

"She is here, Houndkit," Berrykit mewed gently, reaching out and gently placing her paw on Houndkit's chest. "She's here. Dogspirit would never truly leave you, Houndkit. She loves you, and fought to protect you from Lionstorm. And she did." She nestled closer to the other kit, her fluffy fur warm and soft and perfect for close comfort. "Just cause you can't see her doesn't mean she isn't here, loving you and protecting you the way she did when she was alive.."

"Really?" Houndkit whispered. But it was reassuring. Dogspirit died for her? Wow... part of her wished she had died instead of her mom. Or at least she had a dad. If only she could get to know her mom more. 1 moon wasn't enough time to be with her.

Oh, Mommy. Come back, please. I don't want you to be in StarClan, I want you to be with me!

She snuggled up next to Berrykit. Berrykit was like Mom. A little, at least. Warm and sweet and comforting. But she still wasn't Dogspirit.

Silverclaw looked at the kit that walked up to her. She recognized her of her visits to the nursery to visit Magpiekit, no Magpiepaw. "Hey Sunkit. I'm doing good. It gets closer and closer to the day that my kits will be born." Silverclaw mewed, finishing her mouse.
