Taking a long deep breath, he made a mad dash towards Firehawk, his eyes scanning for any openings. He could slide underneath him.. but that would risk sending his mentor into orbit if he messed it up. Go for a side swipe again? Yes, then come around and try to touch the back!
Racing forward, Pebblepaw was mindful to keep his tail tucked as he charged head-first towards Firehawk. As he drew near, Pebble veered off to the side and extended a paw to try and swipe at Firehawk's pelt. If he managed to get past his mentor without any interruption, the feline would turn as quick and sudden as possible to try and lunge at Fire's backside.

For such a big boy, he sure was quick!
Firehawk had expected Pebblepaw to veer off, but he still didn't have time to spring out of the way of the paw that scuffed his side. Twisting, Firehawk drew his back away from Pebblepaw's lunge as he swiped at his back-legs, aiming to trip Pebblepaw mid-spring.

Re: RiverClan Training Island
@ Cecily Herondale
The blue-gray she-cat listened to her apprentice, taking in her appearance, the sigh of defeat, the worry. She recalled her own apprentice days and her strive for perfection, the fear of failure and disappointment. She had been in Finchpaw's place before, though admittedly her mentor hadn't been nearly as strict and precise as she was being with Finchpaw now.
Glancing down at her paws first, Cobaltshade would turn her attention to the calm water flowing around the training island, falling silent. There wasn't a sign of disappointment or anger on her face, in fact the warrior seemed as calm as ever as she sat there and thought to herself for a moment. Deep down Cobaltshade did have a soft spot for young cats, kits mostly, but apprentices too. She wanted to see them strive for greatness and achieve it. Her thoughts went to the kit and mate she had lost so many moons ago. She missed them and for a while, it had frozen over her heart. For a while, she didn't talk to her clanmates unless absolutely necessary. She became short with everyone, to cold to make friends. She was still trying to deal with her loss, it's not something easy to overcome. But she was working on it. Having Finchpaw was a chance to work on it.
" It's... It's okay to not know the answer Finchpaw. Though I do expect perfection from you, I know you're not there yet, and it's okay if you never get there. I'm only holding you to my own standards, but that shouldn't matter. You hold yourself to your own standards, you work as hard as you want to because in the end, you are who you make yourself to be. I want Lionstar to see the greatness in you, because I know there is greatness to be found, but you must be the one to prove it to him. I can only offer my own knowledge and wisdom." The tip of her tail flicked slowly one way, then the other. " Just know that you will only disappoint me if I know you aren't trying your best. When you're training, you have to be putting in 100 percent, when you're hunting you have to be putting in 100 percent, same when you're patrolling. I can see now that you are trying your best; it may be hard to get back into the swing of things. I understand that. I spent a long while looking for you, trying to bring you back home safely because I care about you Finchpaw. More than I let on."
Cobaltshade leaned her head forward to rest her chin on the top of her apprentice's head momentarily before pulling back. " Now it seems you're rusty with your battle moves. Why don't we start with practicing the belly kick that I did to you?"

Ravenmist laughed. " Are you suggesting you can't learn from them?" The amusement abruptly faded from her eyes. " The more you complain, the less time you'll have to train afterwards." She meowed sternly.

He sighed loudly through his nose, looking up at Ravenmist from his crumpled position on the sand. "No, I guess not," he grumbled. "It's just... I'm SO CLOSE to finally becoming a warrior, and I want to spend my time out hunting, and training, and going on patrols. Not on tick duty, y'know?" He pushed himself to his feet, using one of his forepaws to brush the sand off his chest. "Okay, sorry, I'll go take care of the elders. But when I come back, you HAVE to help me figure out my warrior name, okay? I keep drawing a blank there!" He cracked a smile and a small laugh.

Ravenmist laughed. " Maybe I'll tell you how I got mine!" She stood up, shaking the sand out of her pelt.

"Oh, would you!" He sprang to his paws, scattering sand in every direction, and bounded over to her. "Then what are we waiting for, let's go back to camp so I can get the elders sorted out!"

Ravenmist chuckled. " Yes, let's." She jogged alongside him, sand clogging her pads and a smile spread wide across her face.

Re: RiverClan Training Island
Though it didn't seem like Finchpaw was really paying attention to what her mentor said, she would lie awake thinking about what Cobaltshade had said, The black she-cat would have it committed to memory. She looked up, excitement gleaming in her eyes Let's do this! Finchpaw said as she lept to her feet

Internally Cobaltshade smiled at the excited look on Finchpaw's face, that's what she wanted to see. An excited apprentice was always a good sign, they would be eager to learn and even more eager to put the knowledge into practice.
Alright, we'll do a few practices of this move, just so you get it down. Lay on your back, I'll come leaping at you, you kick your hind legs out when I'm landing on you." She instructed, standing a fox-length away from her apprentice while she waited for her to do as she instructed.
