Peanut nodded, "Thank you." he said. When the question came he shook his head, "No predators, just some prey." he said. He wondered why Pit had asked that question . . . Oh well.

Strawberry smiled as Pit complimented their home. She cocked her head as he asked about predators. Why would he ask it?

Plan failed. Hastily attempting to return to some amount of normality and continue to make his point, Pit mewed Oh, it just that predators come after kits. We had a bit of a problem with them in our old territory, and we moved to find a place with a lot of cats. That way in case any predators came around, there would be enough cats to fight it off. One cat couldn't fight off a fox or a badger on their own. Its good you don't have any though. Just.....keep an eye out. he added, avoiding sounding somewhat disappointed. Predators would have been a perfect reason to bring them into the group. @PoppySeed

Peanut nodded, "Alright." he said. Hopefully, predators wouldn't come anywhere near them. "A group?" he said as Pit chattered on. He narrowed his eyes in vague interest.

Strawberry was worried now. Why so much talk of predators? She swayed her tail anxiously.

Peanut seemed intent on playing right into his paws. The question about the group was just what he needed, he'd have to remember to try and mention the group lightly to get a question in the future. A bit of a mutual protection thing. he mewed, keeping any pressure far away. If enough cats are in the same area, no predator is going to get anywhere NEAR the kits before it gets its fur clawed off. Enough cats would probably keep it from coming near the camp as well, although he didn't know that for a fact. @PoppySeed

If you want to come visit you're welcome. Pit added, before trying to normalize the conversation again. This might actually be harder than he thought. How long have you lived around here? he asked, before adding his own figure. I've been around for about a moon, I'm a bit of a wanderer. @PoppySeed

Peanut smiled, "Been around here since I escaped the twoleg den. That was about, oh, thirteen moons ago." he said. Yes, thirteen moons. He would have been ten moons then.

I imagine you know the place well then. Pit purred, before getting to his feet rather slowly. It's getting kind of dark. I should be getting back to my own kits. he mewed, sticking his head out of the den briefly. He could come and check on them another day perhaps. Do you know when the kits will be born? he asked, wanting to know. He didn't want to come bother them until they were at least a bit older than newborn after all. @PoppySeed

Peanut nodded, "Okay then." Pit asked another question and he nodded, "No specific date, but probably a few days. Maybe a week." he said.
