“Alright,” Dunesplash meowed, “T-thank you Snakepaw,” She smiled a half smile at him, “I’m sorry about your family as well, that must have been hard for you.”

Snakepaw gave the queen a nod and a quick "No problem." stopping to think further on the matter before finnally slowly replying, "I really havent thought about it much, all this stuff came to its head when I hit apprenticeship and got distracted by well all of this." He gestured to the herbs and the little check up area he set up, by products of his duties and refocused. "Honestly I think it was my mother that kept me together. Foxblaze made it clear she was always there for me and supported and was proud of what I did no matter what and that kept me together. Its why I think queens are the true core of the clan, kits are the future or whatever but without queens the furrballs would be a disaster. Stand by your kits they'll be fine. Ill see you later and feel free to come to me with any issues if you need."

Hmm all this was going alright as it could so far. Maybe it was time to prepare for the tiny annoying furballs.
"You lot ready for the kits? Im deffinatly going to need you to help me manage them because Im not dealing with those annoying little things alone and if Ive got my paws full I may need you to follow instructions and treat them so you better be prepared." and then after not even a second he followed up with a "Well Im hearing no objections, Im calling them over."

"Kittens! Its time for a checkup! I worried youre not able to tell if you have a horrible illness or injury and come to me on your own so Im checking you by paw to make sure! If you come over to be looked at, even if you think you're fine, Ill teach you a bit of special medicine cat knowledge!"
That should do it.

Tallkit didn't want to get up, but he supposed he had to. He was completely fine unless there was a cure for laziness. He hated getting interrupted from his nap. He found it rude. The tall kitten padded over to the medicine cat. "Hurry up so I can go back to sleep.", he grumbled. Tallkit was still half asleep and wanted to go right back to his nest and ignore everyone altogether.

A checkup? But Reedkit felt fine! But, if Snakepaw said to, it must be important, right? Well, whatever it was, Reedkit walked over eagerly, tipping his head to the side. "I'm here! I'm not sick, am I...?"

Violetkit walked up and sat down. She had been cleaning camp all day and she wanted to go back soon so she could nap later. She saw Tallkit already there so she sat nearby and Looked for her other friends Redkit and Fernkit (I'm not gonna mention y'all but if you see this feel free to come over by Vi) She turned to Snakepaw and realized he probably had his hands full, he had lost his mentor only a few moons into his training so she realized instead of being an annoying furball she could help. She walked over to Snakepaw and said "If you need me to help keep the kits from being a hassle I can round them up and try to keep them calm", she turned to look at the younger kits "er- calm as they can be". She wasn't interested in being a Medicine cat but a great leader knew basic herbs right?

"Well you're a snippy little thing arent you, Ill check you over and you can head back to your nap just sit still. You wanna linger around to wait for the herb knowledge when I'm done with everyone or do you want Rowanmist to carry you back to the nursery as soon as Im done?" Snakepaw kept his ears perked for a response as he went about his checks, first briefly poking around the kit to make sure nothing felt out of place before moving on to sniffing at him to make sure he didnt smell like illness or infection. That turned out fine so wasnt an issue and after looking at the kits ears and eyes dipped an ear down to listen to Tallkits heart and breathing.
"Right you're clear Tallkit no health issues that I can find."

"I dont know but Im here to check that, hold still."
Brief poke to make sure nothing obvious was out of place, sniff check to make sure Reedkit smelled right, little listen to their heart to make sure it was doing right, and a listen to their breathing to make sure there wasnt a rasp that could be a illness or a long term issue the kit would have to grapple with and Snakepaw was done with his checks. Hopefully he didnt find anything wrong but he probably wouldnt, kits that had issues tended to act a certain way and Reedkit wasnt acting like it (loud whiney crying and needy, just generally a pain in his tail).
"Now do you have any worries or questions for me?"

Oh yay it was one of the ones that thought that were able to assist... Fun. Snakepaw figured they werent as bad as the other annoying type but still... Maybe Snakepaw just was absolutely not a kit cat. The tom did his best to temper his expression to neutral when he responded though.
"Ive got helpers already kitten unless you've got some herb or healing knowledge already (and stars knows how you'd get that) theres not much else you'd be able to help. If you wanna help just hold still and let me take a look at you to see if anythings wrong and then linger until Im done if you want to learn some herb knowledge."

Snakepaw leaned over to do his routine hoping to not find anything out of the ordinary idly muttering "You can bug Rowanmist or Petuniapaw or something if nothings wrong I dont care." as he did.

The tabby stood by, he wasn't needed quiet yet, so it was best not to get in the way. Doing his best to think loudly to himself, as not to eavsedrop on Snakepaw and Dunesplash's conversation. It sounded personal from the snidbit he heard, and none of his buisness as well.

Whiskers twitched as he thought about what he could do in the meantime, thought about giving Petuniapaw a helping paw, but what if he was needed to calm a potential crowd, or carry someone who was terribly sick? Luckily, the Medicine Cat shook him out of his decent into insanity. Floppy ears quivered as he spoke up about the kits.

Letting out a soft laugh Rowanmist brought his paw up to his maw "I'll- I mean we'll do our best." he laughed , giving Petuniapaw a determined smile. She seemed very sweet, and incredibly gentle. Luckily to have as a companion and even more so as a helper. Just as he had looked at the young molly, the young tom called for the kits. Soon enough they started pouring out of the Nursery and from everywhere else in the clan.

Blue hues flickered with amusement as the first few seemed rather entertaining. "Oh Starclan...would it be easier to line them up behind each other, or beside each other?" he asked himself, tapping his maw with his paw. After a second of thinking he decided side by side would be a potential quicker way. "If you could all sit next to each other, that would be wonderful!" he hummed.

His attention went to a small kit, his little question making the large feline let out a soft chuckle. "If you are, you'll be all better once Snakepaw gives you a look over. So don't worry none." he reassured, voice soft.

Firehawk sighed gently as Snakepaw reached toward his stomach, doing his best to remain still as he felt around. He didn't really care about the invasive questions -- it was Snakepaw's job to ask, and come to think of it.. "It's been darker than it usually is, but I thought perhaps that was just a result of aging." One was only old once, and it didn't get better from there. Firehawk missed the days of youth where he wasn't confined to camp. The tranquil days of prowling through the forest.. seemed so distant now.

He flinched when Snakepaw found the mass, a short, instinctual hiss in his throat from the pain. "It's like you stabbed me. And it.. aches.. all over there, like a huge bruise." He didn't know how else to describe it at the moment.

 

Moments after being prodded by Snakepaw in the tumor, the (somewhat) unexpected jolt of pain throughout his body made Firehawk queasy, and he awkwardly side-stepped from Snakepaw to hurl what little he had in his stomach onto the ground. In his illness, he failed to see the bright red blood that lined the contents of his vomit.

Sheepishly, he attempted to wipe his muzzle and gave Snakepaw a weak but sad smile. "Apologies, I don't usually do that.." At least he didn't do it on Snakepaw (or anyone else), he would've felt even worse.

Kits! Petuniapaw actually liked kits, they were so lively and fun. Of course they could be a bit of a pain at times, but really they were adorable fur balls. "Yes! I'm ready for them!" She exclaimed as she watched the first three come over. Her amber eyes watching them as she studied their body language and how they interacted with one another. They were all three so different. She glanced at Mister Rowanmist, slightly amused by how he was handling the situation. He found the kits as amsuing as she did, he just made the remarks aloud! Snakepaw on the other paw was not having fun, she could tell he disliked kits.
Knowing she was supposed to be in charge of helping with the herbs Petuniapaw didn't wonder to far from the pile but she did move slightly closer to the kits. "I'm sure you are all perfectly healthy! Snakepaw here just wants to make sure that you are in tip, top shape and ready for all the things you have ahead of you. If you aren't, he'll fix you right up like nothing was ever wrong." She gave them all a smile. "So, be polite and hold still for Snakepaw, okay? After that you can go back to the nursery or stay here and learn the special medicine knowledge, that most warriors don't even know!" Petuniapaw would add, hoping the kits would find the idea fun and cooperate with them. She wasn't a queen but figured if they found something cool or special they would want to join in. And if not that was okay. As long as they didn't get into the medicine cat's fur to much.
With Snakepaw's remark about the kits going to bug Rowanmist and her she let out a slight laugh. That would be eventful. Though it would be their job as helpers wouldn't it? "They can." She meowed to no cat in particular. Not really knowing what to do at the moment. She would glance over at her co-helper and give a bright smile, they worked well together huh? Maybe they could be friends. First they had to get through this of course and make sure they helped Snakepaw but after that Petuniapaw figured they would be free to do whatever.

Mistkit padded over to Snakepaw. A checkup? Oh, well, fine. She did not want to be annoying, as he would have some trouble with checking on so many kits. "Can I help in some way?" she asked the tom. After thinking Mistkit added worriedly "I'm not sick, am I?"
