"But it stings"
The spotted kitten retorted, a clear grimace on her once chubby face. One last time, Vixenkit tried to pull away from the stingy stuff, almost toppling over in the process. She shook her head - which she quickly stopped because that didn't feel well either - and eyed Sundust for a moment before her face fell. She did want to feel better. Slightly blowing up her cheeks in resignation, the fluffy kitten finally stopped wiggling and obediently sat still. Even if it still hurt!! Kind of. But still! At least now letting Dusty work, she could tell her sister how good of a kit she had been in the healing den. Turtlekit would certainly admire her for that! She really had a lot to tell her once she got back.
Gradually the air escape from the kitten's maw, who raised her eyes again to curiously watch the medicine cat. Sniffle sniff, her nose wiggled as she finally registered the scent. "What's that?"
Perhaps she was starting to forget the stinginess, because now Vixy had begun entertaining herself by watching the middie cat work - and sniff the funny scents in the air. She'd never smelled that before!!
Sundust was relieved when the squirming kit finally sat still, making it more easy to see and treat the wounds. His ears pricked as Vixenkit asked him a question, having apparently taken an interest in what he was doing and using.
“It’s marigold,” the medicine cat began to explain, “It’ll help keep you from getting infected - a sort of sickness that you can get if you don’t go to the medicine cat if you get hurt.” Hopefully that little tidbit about what an infection was would make the kit think twice before getting into a dangerous situation again; from his experience, kits didn’t take kindly to the idea of becoming ill.

Sundust’s ears twitched as Streamtail began explaining her symptoms. They could be worrying if it was an illness, but the medicine cat had a sneaking suspicion it may be something else. “Have you experience any nausea or soreness recently as well?”

Bumbleflight cringed. Had he passed out? Well, that was embarrassing. And where was Brightpath? Were they alright? Where-? The dark brown tabby attempted to stand, but pain shot through his legs from his paws, and he fell onto his belly with a grunt. Well, that was pathetic. Great.

Sundust was prepping the marigold poultice when he heard Bumbleflight began to stir. He glanced over his shoulder, relief clear in his eyes as he padded over to the tom. “Hello, Bumbleflight. I’m just treating your paws now.” The medicine cat was grateful for his ever-monotonous voice.
He had left Rosepaw in the clearing to take care of Brightpath while he handled Coolpaw and Bumbleflight in the medicine den. His heart had frozen when he had heard Cloudyflight’s grievous screams; he knew Brightpath had not survived. There was no need for Bumbleflight to know that yet - the stress would do him no good now.
Sundust realized that he had paused for a moment and swiftly went about applying marigold to Bumbleflight’s paws.

Sundust’s eyes widened as the kit was brought into the den, slightly appalled by Rainfall’s lack urgency. Very rarely was there a cat with broken limbs brought into the medicine den with no screaming to accompany them. “How did this happen?” No need to bother asking about what was wrong; the leg was clear broken. The medicine cat hurried to his herb storage and returned with a poppy seed, a stick, and some cobwebs.

The only response she gave the medicine cat in answer to his explanations was a tired half-nod, and though her bruises throbbed beneath her fur from her encounter at the Cove and her energy was suddenly sapped, she didn't feel either were worth any attention. Sleep would take care of both.
So she took a deep breath and shook her head, managing a tired, "No." this time. "Can I go?"
Sundust flicked his tail in acknowledgement of Bumbleflight’s response, his ears twitching as Bumbleflight asked to leave. “You may go. Take it easy for a couple of days, though.”
Sundust finished up with treating the infection then turned his attention to Thrushfur’s next concern. “Ah, the stomach aches are probably caused by the stress itself. I’m afraid there’s not much I can do on that front; we could try some calming herbs, but I’m out at the moment and I would want you becoming reliant on them.” Sundust paused for a moment as he thought. “I would recommend trying to identify the source of your stress and find a way to either diminish it or get rid of it all together.” Though he was aware that medicine cats were there to help their clanmates stay both mentally and physically, Sundust was unfortunately not too skilled at handling helping cats work through their feelings.

As Sundust finished up dressing Violetpaw’s tail - or what was left of it - he stepped back to see how Rosepaw was getting along and nodded in approval. His brow furrowed sympathetically as Violetpaw stirred - no apprentice should have to endure this kind of pain. He glanced over his shoulder wanting to further question Mapleleaf about the fox encounter, but it seemed she had left the medicine den to let them work. Oh well, he would catch up with her later; it was important that Sparrowstar got a report of the incident. In the meantime, he went to fetch a poppy seed. “Do you think you can eat this?” He asked the apprentice. “It will help with the pain.”

Bumbleflight winced as Sundust went about applying marigold to his paws, but otherwise did his best to stay still. However, that didn't concern him too much... What worried him was what happened in the clearing. As his thoughts churned, the dark brown tabby took to scanning the den, but didn't spot the familiar pelt of his friend, and he felt his heart sink. No... Brightpath was alright... Right? Just... Somewhere else, right...?
The tom lowered his head and buried his face in his forelegs, not wanting to interrupt Sundust's work. He didn't want to think about the worst case scenario... Perhaps he could lie to himself and say Brightpath was fine, and they'd show up soon. He'd always been a decent liar... Though this might be more than he could handle.
Bumbleflight didn't speak up, but his ears pinned against his head, the tattered one shifting slightly, as he sank into his own fur, falling silent. He didn't like this... Not at all. Some friend he was...

"A little bit of both actually, I hope it's not anything serious." Streamtail replies, concerned, "Do you know what's wrong?"
Patiently waiting as Dandelionpaw figured out the best way to start, Sparrowstar gently curled her tail around her paws as she awaited whatever important query this young cat wished to speak on. She hoped everything was going well in their training, but perhaps something else had come up?
However, the tan leader relaxed slightly as she finally spoke her mind.
"I think that's a perfectly reasonable request," she hummed, smiling gently at the younger cat before her. "Once you are ready for your warrior ceremony, you can be assured that I will not change your name back to what it was. I agree that we should be looking forward rather than backwards with such things; clinging to past pain has only led us to extra heartache, and I'd prefer to see Thunderclan's future defined by our choices now rather than then."
Tilting her head to the side, she quietly regarded Dandelionpaw for a moment before continuing.
"Was there anything else you wished to discuss, or have your worries been settled?"
Nervously awaiting the leader's response, paws shuffling and twitching as she fumbled with a stray pebble, the older apprentice's shoulders dropped when Sparrowstar spoke. Relief washed over her face, and Dandelionpaw couldn't restrain the breath that escaped her. Her paws' fumbling stopped, her overall body language relaxed and slowly began nodding along to what the tan leader was saying. "N-no... It was just, uhm that.
She shook her in response, glancing to the side for a moment before returning her gaze on Sparrowstar. Opening her maw, closing again, then pulling a smile the leader's way. Sparrowstar was nice after all. "Uhm... thank you. Like, for understanding and.. Such. Thank you."
Wasssss she supposed to go now? Dandelionpaw rose to her paws after a moment of silence, glancing to the den's exit as if asking permission leave - or was that rude too?
Sundust was relieved when the squirming kit finally sat still, making it more easy to see and treat the wounds. His ears pricked as Vixenkit asked him a question, having apparently taken an interest in what he was doing and using.

"Marigold?"
Vixenkit had to think twice about tilting her head curiously - she almost did, but the meddie cats' previous words reminded her to keep still, the kit in turn freezing completely as to not move at all until he finished, expression suddenly determined. Still, she kept a curious ear perked to hear his explanation of what this 'marigold' did, and why. "Did you get an infected before?"
Her eyes lowered briefly - she still rigid as a stone - then looked up at Sundust (after all, it only made sense if he knew so much about it). Infected sounded weird. She had never met someone who was 'sick' before, but Dusty didn't seem to like it, and it sounded weird too. Then it must be a not good thing, right? Right. Thinking things over, the kitten subconsciously started tapping her paws on the ground, unable to keep still much longer. Was marigold that difficult to use? For a young one like her, it felt like she'd been sitting there for a really long time already.
I can't believe I got myself squished under my henchman.. Leaders were supposed to be stronger than their subordinates. Thats why leaders are called leaders! And Vixenkit of all.. was his most active henchman. Which he wouldn't call her the smartest of them all. But she was the most trustworthy. All he wanted to do was give his claws some sharpening on a good rock and make them gleam. But instead he's gotten himself into a hole he can't jump out of. "Your jump was.. incredible.. Vixenkit.." He forced a smile, but it was visibly dry. Unlike his scrawny self she was able to pounce like a flying squirrel. Leaders are stronger than this! He wavered his eyes around. Looking at Vixenkits build to see if she even had a hint of muscle in her veins. He felt like sweat was going to build through his pelt the moment he realizes she even is a bit more muscular than him.
He wanted to crawl away and find himself a hidey-hole to retreat to. Until Vixenkit asked ANOTHER question. She just won't stop talking won't she? He breathed in, taking a small deep breath. Leaders are supposed to treat their subordinates kindly. Given that they could run away.. or even worse. Betray. He bit his bottom lip, giving a thin smile that looks a bit to the edge of insanity. He dragged himself to face Vixenkit, seeing now that she wasn't bouncing around like a dirt particle. A game? He clicked his tongue. A game wouldn't sound so bad would it?. . . Due to his ego, he doesn't realize that he's horrible at games like these. Will Mottlekit realize that his competitive nature will only make him roll around like a tumbleweed? No.
His emerald eyes showed a fair glint. He gave a nod, sticking up his head as he gave his speech. "I accept this challenge. A game would be delightful for me. I hope your ready as I always will win at these type of games." He smirked, lashing out his claws.
[ Noticed Mottle has since become an apprentice, if you'd like to leave this as is then that's perfectly fine ]
Vixenkit puffed her chest in pride upon the praise from her second leader (for Birdyflight was the first), happily poising herself besides Motty. She eyed him, having since moved to stand in front her friend, as he gave his long awaited reply! Woo!! The kitten's smile drew up happy as Mottlekit agreed to play with her, Vixenkit exclaiming as much with a small jump in the air and bouncing around her denmate. The way he gave his answer had the kitten laugh, but that didn't matter, for she would no longer be bored now! He always was funny like that anyway hehe.
After one circle bounded around the fellow kit, she almost toppled over as she moved to sit down, forgetting to stop bouncing first - "Woah-" - was what she said, just about catching herself with her front paws before actually falling. Shaking her head, Vixy turned to look at Mottlekit again, intending to ask him what he wanted to play. But oh!! The fluffy kitten caught sight of gleaming sharps, her eyes going wide! "Motty!"
Vixenkit gaped, frozen in place as she fixed the claws with blue eyes. "We're not allowed to use sharpy things, they hurt! That's what mama said."
Unbelievable! Her eyes went from the kitten's claws to meet his eyes. It's what mama taught her before going on adventure, at least. And Freaky hadn't been nice with the sharpy things either! They made red! Could Motty do that too? Well, she didn't like red, so she hoped not. Tilting her head as she waited, the kitten eventually leaned back in silence. For a moment, she was much more calm than normal. Silently watching and waiting until supposedly she saw the sharpy things no more or forgot about it.
“What was Brokenstar like? We’re the nice like Sparrowstar or mean and cruel like Dawnstar?” Juniperpaw had heard about Dawnstar from his mentor, Blackfir. She hadn’t seemed like a nice cat in his description. Although, that was ShadowClan. ThunderClan was great.
