Reeds? Oh, that could be a problem. But she wasn't stopping, in fact, she was moving forward at a decent speed. Silvernight had never been the most graceful cat, she wasn't hasting this, slow and steady might not be the best strategy for a race, it was a strategy she could manage well. So with great care in her movement, she steered between the frozen plants. It wasn't easy, but she was coming forward, though she was still a little nervousness bubble up inside her when she saw the others, that while weren't always the most careful, usually went faster. But she got this, she just had to focus...

~ Goldenpaw 2

She was moving forward, fast but still with good control over herself. She seemed to be slightly ahead of most others, but she had to keep moving forward. She could see the reeds in good time and realized that would be trouble to get through. She was quick and lean, with not hanging fur in her way, but finding a path between plants that grew that tightly together would be hard. While she wasn't heavy at all, she could imagine how thin the ice must be there. So she had to find a patch where they didn't grow as dense, she could slip through unharmed, as long as she did find that first. Moving long the reeds she looked for an opening. Just please be one here somewhere....

Wolfsong narrowed her eyes as she saw the frozen reeds. I wonder how brittle those are... Throwing caution to the wind, she lowered her head and picked up speed hoping her lithe form might help her slip between some of them, but planning on cutting a path straight through.

~Moonfrost - 0 Pts~
Moonfrost watched as her sister barreled headlong towards the reeds and took a quick look around. Not seeing many open spots in the thicket, she opted for the edge, hoping that the reeds along the side might be thinner and easier to navigate. My quick reflexes should help here, I think... The dark she-cat slowed slightly, thinking about ways to dodge and weave through the plants.

Well it looks like youre playing bumper cars with the reeds but it gets you through so success? Sliding around on your belly and ricocheting off the obstacles may be a tad uncomfortable at times but only you can be the judge if its worth it.

CHAAAAARGE!! Yelling out a battle cry if you feel so inclined you avoid the failures of other taking this tactic and find a good spot to barrel straight through at full speed.

Thwap thwap thwap you are getting hit in the face by the reeds a fair bit but it gets Shypaw through this obstacle with minor issues and on to the next trial! Lavenderpaw on the other paw has gone gung ho and charges straight through to a symphony of crackling as she basically explodes into the other side.

Listen was Silvernight really expecting any different in this race trying this tactic? She ends up stuck right alongside the others who tried this, rethinking her life choices. Goldenpaw on the other hand makes good decisions and gets through with ease, odd the apprentice manages better but I suppose age has no bearing on wisdom.

Listen theres no good way to put this. You get stuck. Paw wedged in a tight spot you have to waste precious time getting it out before moving on and it isnt comfy.

Bend but not break huh... Thats actually not a bad life motto to live with when you think about it. Pushing aside the reeds as you go you make your way through the thicket with minimal issue until you see the light on the other side!

Strategy wins the day for Moonfrost here as the sides are indeed less thick then the middle and where Wolfsong gets slowed down fighting through the thicket Moonfrost weaves straight through.

Next Prompt: Its a trap! On the other side of the reeds theres Snakehearts goose! The giant evil thing is here to bite and chase everyone it can under the iron clad protection of Snakehearts willingness to shred you for harming it!

Stupid reeds, getting her tail, they ruined her fur a bit too, how disgraceful of them. Speaking of disgraces. . .the thing was back again, oh she was killing that damn thing this time. ' 'GET OVER HERE' ' She lost all track of the race, hopefully not literally, as her eyes weren't on the road, but the goose! Huh, maybe it won't be chasing others after all, HAH, everyone wished, well, let Whitepaw have this wild goose chase, maybe it'll help you out!

| Shimmerbird - 3 |

The molly squeaked in surprise when her paw got stuck and it took her a moment to get it out of the reeds. She managed to pull it out fairly quickly but it caused her to fall behind some of the others, now she had to catch up quickly if she still wanted a chance to win! Shimmerbird sunk her claws into the ice and used it to propel herself forward and out of the reeds and straight towards... a goose?! A very mean looking goose. Her ears perked as she heard Whitepaw's yowl before the apprentice charged the animal. Maybe the goose would be too distracted by the apprentice to notice her sneaking by? It seemed like the best strategy so the warrior did her best to silently skate by in hopes that the goose would be too distracted with the angry Whitepaw.

~Bristletail - 4~
Bristletail closed her eyes, and with an exdcited squeal that resembled a kits, she let out a "Charge!!" and barreled through the reeds. Gosh, that felt good. Her thick fur protected her from the scratchy reeds, and her eyes were narrowed to slits, giving her just enough room to see. "Yes!" She grinned as she stepped out of the thicket, only for it to change to horror on the way. "Snakeheart!" Her complaint was loud enough for him to hear her, and she definitely didn't like this change of events. The goose was a literal demon, and she wasn't someone who had no experience with it. It was an actual nightmare. One she had had a multitude of times. Noticing Shimmerbird, she slipped behind her, following her lead. If worse came to worse, she would fight it off, but she really hoped that wouldn't happen. Bunching her muscles to spring to safety as soon as the terrifying beasts attention was on someone else, she prepared to go. Hopefully, Whitepaw was a good enough distraction.

Sliding out of the reeds with ease, she pulled herself to a stop as a yowl reached her ears. Her eyes flicking around, green hues snagged on Whitepaw, yowling at... a goose? Hazelstorm squinted, wishing her eyesight could be better. Wasn't that Snakeheart's goose?Its expression suggested a mean, cruel personality. Hazelstorm gave a grunt, trying to make a plan.

The goose was all the way on the other side of the frozen pond, which wasn't too far away from Hazelstorm but nonetheless nowhere near her. Perhaps, she could glide past as fast as possible. Whitepaw was yowling at the goose, so with a bit of luck and strategy and speed, the goose would be too distracted to spot Hazelstorm shooting past. Deciding to go with this plan, the light brown tabby pushed herself forwards, still sitting on her haunches, her rear end numb from the cold. After this, Hazelstorm might as well go have a dip in Haven Springs to warm up her paws and butt. She propelled herself forwards as fast and silently as she could, desperately hoping that the goose wouldn't notice her speeding past.

~Shypaw, 4 points~
Shypaw opened her eyes wide again once she was through and rubbed her face with a paw. She had been hit a couple of times but she had made it. She continued skating forward when she heard yelling and turned to see Whitepaw attacking a goose. That was the next obstacle? Shypaw saw the others sneaking off quietly and decided to join them. She liked being quiet and if the goose saw her, she was light and had this whole skating thing worked out so she could just speed off, into the sunset if it came to it. Joking, but it did good to explain in her head what she would do if the goose became a problem to her.

It had worked once again! She had made it through! She squealed and she skated onward, attempting to do a little dance but failing terribly. That wouldn’t ruin her spirit! She finished quickly and her ears pricked as she heard yowling. She turned to look at Whitepaw, who was screaming at it and charging. Oh well. Lavenderpaw was tempted to join her but she saw others sneaking off and she decided to follow them. She attempted to use them to hide but if the goose spotted her, she would try to make herself seem as big as possible, to try and intimidate it if it tried to attack her.

THE FIGHT OF THE CENTURY BEGINS! With spite fueling your running you reach new speeds and go sprinting after your feathered foe with a battle cry worthy of a lion! You get a few feathers it plucks some fur but before the fight can go any farther the goose turns off to bite another cat leaving you with no resolution.

The goose for a moment looked like it'd focus on you but Whitepaw ever your noble savoir has seemed to take the plunge and distracted it for you. Your fur is intact and you're unbitten but the laughing of Snakeheart makes you question the toms motives

The complaint gets you nothing but a wheezed laugh and the gooses attention as the beast charges you hitting you with its wings and biting any scrap of skin it can get! Why are you a more tempting target then Whitepaw? Who knows but you feel distinctly de furred in some areas.

There is no mercy here for Lavenderpaw from Snakehearts pet. None. Which is fair given the thing is only slightly less bitey to him and hes been feeding it for over a year now. Still distracted by Lavenderpaw the goose doesnt target Shypaw who manages to sneak past while the goose is honking at poor Lav.



Next prompt: The ice is thin! Though the pond isnt deep here (only ankle deep) you risk dropping through and getting your paws wet if you put too much weight on it!

Whitepaw tried to bite the goose on it's neck, but she only removed a few mere feathers. It attacked some others, including an apprentice, how dare it! Her attention was quickly diverted from the beast though, as she looked, she realized the thin ice. She quickly tried to get herself back on normal balance, with fear of drowning clouding her mind. [despite it being not higher than ankle deep]
