The second Falconpaw moved into her crouch, Lionpaw bolted to the left. He ran away from the battle, not exactly fleeing, in the direction of the edge of camp. Clan cats had a bad habit of standing still. They seemed to believe that facing an enemy, no matter how strong, head on was an advanced tactic. Er, no—where did they even get that from? Not moving made felines an easy target. The best strategy, especially when one didn't have an actual strategy yet, was to move, move, move!
Or at least, that's what Lionpaw believed, and he hadn't died yet.
Falconpaw was a swift cat, though, and Lionpaw was definitely aware that if he'd waited two seconds longer, his ears would've been lost in a real battle. Four bounds later, the golden-furred tom pivoted, quickly scanning for his sparring partner. Had she chased after him, stood still, or stalked away? The latter would be the most disastreous for the older apprentice as he would find fighting an invisible enemy much, much more difficult than sparring with someone in plain sight.

Falconpaw kept one eye trained on the other apprentice, and as he bounded away, she kept her inside shoulder parallel to his, mirroring his every move, features bright with excitement. It had been so long since she genuinely enjoyed something the way she was now, and when her opponent paused, she crouched, building power in her hindquarters, and leapt. She aimed for his shoulders, attempting to land squarely on the other apprentice, claws sheathed, tail used as a counterbalance. Falconpaw had a very direct, aggressive fighting style that incorporated gaining ground with impressive leaps.

Flutterkit dropped into an identical crouch. Despite her kittenish pride, she wouldn't mind gleaning a few more hunting skills-- Tawnykit, being a few moons older, clearly had a little more experience.

Re: ThunderClan Nursery
Cederkit slept at the edge of the nursery curled up on a pad of moss. It was hard to tell what the young kit was dreaming about, but of course, it was likely she wasn't dreaming at all. Her stubby paws moved herself into a comfortable position every now and then. Soon she would wake up hungry, but for now, Cederkit needed some sleep.

Re: ThunderClan Nursery
Littlekit yawned and stretched comfortably in his nest, glancing around. Everything seemed pretty quiet today, and he was perfectly okay with that. When it got too boisterous it made him nervous. He rolled over and snuggled deeper into the nest, blocking out the light.

Oh, wow. The second the golden-furred feline turned, he realized that the move had been a mistake. His opponent came right at him, and Lionpaw bet that she would succeed in her attack, too. However... the abyssinian grinned, partially because he was genuinely enjoying this spar, and partially because of the adrenaline now coursing through his veins. He wasn't getting cocky. Not at all.
With less than a split second to make his decision, the tomcat just did it because, hey, it's just practice, so if he happened to fail, whatever the consequences were, they wouldn't be too bad. Rather than dodging or countering or whatnot, Lionpaw allowed his legs to simply give out. He was a pretty tall feline, with about a tail length's difference between his standing and lying positions. As his chest thumped onto the ground - whoops, he hadn't expected that one - the apprentice ducked low, hoping that Falconpaw would soar over him, and if not... well, too bad. He'd have to try something different next time. Regardless, he followed with a twist and roll in an attempt to get back on his feet.

"Cat and mouse is one of those rougher games that queens really don't like," Lionpaw explained with a grin. "So obviously, someone's gotta be the cat and someone's gotta be the mouse. There can be more mice that cat or vice versa, but usually it's the mice team with more players." He tapped his tail on the ground, then continued, "What do cats do? They hunt mice. So, the goal of the game is for the mice to hide anywhere possible, and the cat has to catch them. You can pounce, tackle, tap - anything as long as the cat touches the mouse. As for the mice, they need to hide from the mouse, but there's a catch. First up, the mice need to be able to see the cat at all times, so no hiding in a den or something. You'll need to follow the cat while they walk around. Second, the mice can win: if a mouse catches the cat's tail, then it's victory for the mouse."
Lionpaw watched his younger counterpart curiously. "Did all of that make sense? It's usually an apprentice game." Well, an outsider's game, technically, also known as 'one victor,' but the abyssinian modified it to fit clan laws.

Tinykit waddled into the nursery and spotted Littlekit, clicking his tongue. He’d just found out he was really good at it - and loved it. Could Lit click his tongue? Tinykit hoped so! They could do it together, and then shoes the moms! It would be really fun! “Lit!” Tinykit meowed softly.”You ready this?”

riverpaw laid down in the sun tired from today training. spotclaw was a great mentor and she had learned a lot in the past few days. riverpaw looked up at a cat " hey do you want to share a vole with me!" she yelled. @ Yeetus Feetus
