Snowypaw gazed up as the leader spoke, a nervous whimper escaping him as he noticed the somber look on her face. Bracing himself for bad news, it still shook him to hear that not one, but two WindClan warriors had joined StarClan. A warrior he had known only in passing, but being in her presence alone had been a powerful motivator, a force to be reckoned with. To think that she would not run with WindClan anymore was heartbreaking.
The leader spoke of how she was always open for all who wished to talk to her, and the gentle giant couldn't help but nod in agreement. In his short life he had himself noticed that most cats appreciated having an ear they could just vent to. The leader's offer was generous beyond words, but WindClan was a large clan, and the three higher ups were just three. He hoped they too had someone to hear them out whenever they needed it. With a flick of his tail he settled on doing his part, and keeping his own eyes open for any who looked like they just needed a helping paw. It was the least he could do for his clan.
At the mention of Barkpaw's name he realized it was not one he recognized, unsurprising if he had been missing for moons, as that had been longer than he had been apprenticed, but he mourned for him all the same. Any WindClan life lost was one to be honored and respected. As he heard Redspeckle speak about her son, Snowypaw dipped his head in deference towards those who had been lost.
Badgers were brought up, and Snowypaw's paws shifted nervously on the ground. So there were perhaps more dangers still than just outsiders beyond their camp's walls. He would need to kick up his training and double his efforts on learning everything Deadmoon could teach him. Or at least try. Mostly try to not fall flat on his face when he finally got to combat basics seemed like a good start in any case...
Assuming at this point that all was bad news for the clan, Snowypaw's ears perked up at the mention of new apprentices. It had been a moon since his own ceremony, but he still got excited whenever new apprentices were named. Seeing the base of Breezerock easily from his spot, he noticed one of the three - Blossomkit, if he was not mistaken - rush over to the front. A purr escaped the large tom as he remembered his own reaction to being called forward, his nerves making him almost incapable of walking. Blossomkit seemed to not be having this problem in the slightest, her very fur screaming out her elation as she tried to settle down. He nodded approvingly. She had just the high spirits the clan needed right now.

Badgerpaw listened in on the meeting as it went on. He was amongst his Clanmates, yes, but what Twilightstar was about to speak of was something he wasn't entirely familiar with. The warrior and apprentice who died, anyway. They were known as... Bravebird and Barkpaw. Badgerpaw didn't know either cat, so he didn't dip his head. It wouldn't make sense for him to pay his respects to his Clanmates if he never actually knew them or talked to them. He did, however, nod his head in acknowledgment. Next up, Twilightstar spoke of what killed Barkpaw: a badger. And the Clan was to report to either Twilightstar or Fallownose if they saw one. What did a badger even look like? Those were one of those dangerous wild forest animals, that was a fact. He'd have to ask Twilightstar on one of their training sessions later.
"May they rest in StarClan," were the only words or actions he could offer in sympathy to his Clanmates. At least he knew about StarClan, that was a Clan all forest Clans knew about.
Badgerpaw flicked his ears in the direction of multiple Clanmates, listening to what they were saying. So, a warrior was the parent of Barkpaw. One thing the warrior brought up was badgers and how they were a danger to the Clans. Why'd Twilightstar name me 'Badgerpaw' if badgers are dangerous?! I'm nowhere near dangerous! Maybe I'll talk to Twilightstar about that later too...
Bringing his attention back to his leader, Badgerpaw smiled at the mention of Blossomkit, Fawnkit, and Patchkit becoming apprentices. His friend was becoming an apprentice! At least I'll have more than one friend to talk to about training! The relationship between Tulippaw and Badgerpaw was... more complicated than the tuxedo would've liked to have admitted. Were they friends? Acquaintances? That wasn't entirely clear... he'd have to confront Tulippaw about that. Whether it was a good idea or not, Badgerpaw had to get an answer somehow.

FireFlyMeadow Went Silent. She instantly scanned the clearing for Bravebird and Barkpaw In Case The Leader Was Lying. FireFlyMeadow Knew She Wasn’t But They Had to Check Out Of Instinct. Her Eyes Landed on Lionoaw and Leechpaw,Both Now Had a Range of Scars,Lionpaw by far the worst with a missing limb. They took a sharp breath before shakily managing to speak and collecting their thoughts.
“ Twilightstar,Ma’am,With The News Of The Badger Now Lingering On The Territory,Should We Be Now Going In Larger Groups In Case Of Something Happening Of This Sort Again?” The Warrior Spoke Up. The slightly still painful news still remaining in her Clearly Broken speak and Upset Expression. ‘Hold It It Together FireFlyMeadow. Your Kits Are Here And They Can’t See You Upset. Do It For Them! Do It For Them!’
The Demigirl was one to speak their mind but now? Was that a truly great Idea with The Whole Dead Clanmates news now in the air. Regardless of it,The Warrior held her head high. Their eyes clearly misty with forming small tears. It felt Windclan was losing cats everyday,If There was a time to speak,it was now. They took another breath before opening their maw again. “With That Information,Should Us Warriors Be Taking our Apprentices Out To Train With Another Warrior Then?” She Had Kits,She Wouldn’t let a badger to make them grow up without one…and Wish Their Father No Less. She shouldn’t have to risk their life to go train their apprentices
“Cowpaw surly Cant have a whole clan in his Den Ma’am. Are We To Be Reporting Further Sightings Of Outsiders and Or Anyone Else To You And Fallownose as Well,Ma’am?”
FireFlyMeadow spoke sharply now,a bit of courage beamed in the warrior. Now confident in their own thoughts, unlike before where they were a tad bit more emotional.
Patchkit was happy, though remained calm and she did what Twilightstar told her to do which was to sit beneath the Breezerock. Patchkit looked up, so the time’s finally here for her to become an apprentice. How exciting!

Milkkit (he/him) Creamy-white short fur and green eyes
❛ ━━━━━━・❪ ⚘ ❫ ・━━━━━━ ❜
Twilightstar's call rang in the whole camp, and in a few minutes all the present warriors had already gathered in the Meeting Hollow. Milkkit looked into the bunch of cats from the entrance of the nursery, wondering if he should follow Fireflymeadow to hear what the leader was going to say. He decided to tell his siblings before sneaking away and insert himself into the meeting.
As soon as he reached his mother, she spoke up about the danger of badgers in their territory and Milkkit stared at her. Barkpaw and Bravebird had deceased, and although he didn't know them at all, he felt bad for them anyway. I hope they haven't suffered too much before going away... He whispered to Fireflymeadow: "How are badgers? And why are they so mean?" he couldn't believe any creature would kill such an innocent and young cat.
The last news were happy ones: three kits becoming apprentices in Windclan. That's great, but I wish I was there with my siblings. Who knows when our turn will be!
"OK!" Brightkit squealed excitedly, "Umm, I can be 'it'."
❄ Snowkit (she/it) ❄
Smiling brightly at the other kit before her, she did a little wiggle and started to make her way outside. "Hey ma! We're gonna go play outside!" it mewled happily. "Let's go!"
{ @Rabbiteye @marina // sorry for the random ping Marina, I didn't know whether or not Skyleaf would be in here, but I thought I'd add it since she's watching over Snowkit }
Twilighstar swerved her ear in Badgerpaw's direction as he replied to her question. Since he's been lacking when it came to hunting rabbits she'd probably have to work on building up his speed and endurance. It'd probably be better to start him on prey that he's hunting before then. "That's alright, I'll teach you that later. How about smaller prey, mice, chipmunks, squirrels?" She asked, tipping her head back and parting her maw to breathe in the scents around her. WindClan primarily hunted rabbits, but they had other prey like field mice, small birds, chipmunk, and so on. "I want to see how well you hunt yourself before offering you any tips, go see what you can find, but don't go too far I need to be able to see you." Twilightstar told him, and then glanced over to Laurelpaw.
Lovely, she was being difficult. The signs of displeasure and frustration were easy enough to pick up, but Twilightstar didn't take any of it personally. This wasn't the first time she's had to pry information out of unwilling apprentices. She decided to settle on one problem at a time. "Is the reason you dislike Badgerpaw because he wasn't born in the clan?" She inquired, before adding. "You don't have to answer any of my questions if you don't want to. At the moment I'm just trying to listen and learn, but if you're too annoyed or don't want to share I'm not going to push." She explained with an inquisitive glint in her single eye.

This is my chance to prove to Twilightstar I can live in WindClan, I can't mess up! he puffed out his chest fur and smirked, it didn't take him long for him to taste the air just as Twilightstar had just done. It was fairly easy to detect a mouse or two- not too far away from where the group was standing. Crouching down, the tuxedo tom began to stalk, remembering to stay as quiet as possible. It was actually the easiest thing he found that the Clans did.
Keeping his tail as still as possible and his haunches as low as they could go, Badgerpaw let the wind carry his scent toward camp. It was easy enough, how hard could hunting a mouse be? He had plenty of experience from the twoleg place! Opening his jaws to take in the scent, double-checking his surroundings, the tom made his move and slowed down ever so slightly. Narrowing his eyes (which is something he hardly ever does), Badgerpaw unsheathed his claws and sprinted forward, jumping after only two bounds. A mouse's tail ended up being directly under his paw, so Badgerpaw quickly snapped its neck with a quick blow from his other paw. That was very simple, though he possibly allowed the other animals in the area to know that they were being hunted. Oops... oh well, Twilightstar will be happy with this mouse. I'm not too far away, am I?
The WindClan apprentice looked back to see that Twilightstar and Laurelpaw were having a conversation. Something regarding Laurelpaw's behavior, he assumed. The only thing he could do was grab his catch and walk as slow as he could to give them both time to themselves in case it was something that wasn't meant for his ears. So that's what he did, though he got closer to them faster than he expected, so he just sat down and began to clean his chest fur smooth. It bothered him to have it ruffled, that was for sure.
Laurelpaw
So the little lackey would get sent off to hunt things other than rabbits huh? Laurelpaw couldn't hide the pleased smirk that appeared on her face. Maybe he was too slow to catch rabbits, in which case he wouldn't last too long in WindClan. That would be perfectly fine with her; perhaps while they were kicking him out they could also put that same energy towards finding her mom.
Soon enough the tom was off doing as he was told, and the black and white she-cat let out a hefty sigh. Twilightstar was asking her a question, but the apprentice knew better than to open her mouth while Badger-loudmouth was still around. For all she knew, he'd been the one to insist the leader and his mentor take her along with them. Once he was far enough away, she swung her annoyed gaze towards the lilac leader. "Well for one, I'm willing to bet he's too slow to catch any of the rabbits that run along this moor, so good luck trying to turn him into any kind of warrior," she scoffed with an equally disgusted eyeroll.
She had more to add, that was sure, but the blundering bumble of fur came back quickly as if he wanted to eavesdrop. Laurelpaw shot him a glare and stood up. "Oh, if you wanted to hear what I said so badly it's that you're too slow to be a WindClanner, and that you'll probably get kicked out soon. Next time don't pretend to walk back slowly, eavesdropper." And with that the she-cat stalked off to catch something of her own. A rabbit. Yeah. She'd catch a rabbit, and that would get both of these cats off her back.
Scenting the air, Laurelpaw was able to pick up on a trace of rabbit not too far off. Her head turned, body remaining still as ever. Just ahead the two fluffy ears of a rabbit poked up from the bland moorland and she ducked low, keeping herself level with the ground and stalking forward slowly. Thankfully the wind was blowing in her direction which meant the rabbit likely wouldn't smell her yet. Carefully, each paw was moved as slow as possible as she inched closer and closer, bringing her within sprinting range.
A slow breath out, and then the young she-cat exploded from the bushes to give chase to the rabbit just as it sprang to its own feet. Paws drumming the moorland Laurelpaw did her best to keep up with the rabbit as it zigged one way and zagged the other. Seeing the rabbit take a sharp turn, the apprentice skidded where she was - throwing up dirt in the process - and tried to veer her course so that she could cut it off. Slowly but surely she was gaining on it, just a few more paw steps and -
Suddenly the sky swooped down and the ground came up fast, over and over in a circular succession. Dirt clouded her gaze and filled her lungs until she finally stopped tumbling, landing on her back and looking up at the sky. Had she... tripped?? Embarrassment made her pelt go hot as she quickly got to her paws. The rabbit was long gone, but Laurelpaw was no longer interested in that. Instead she flattened her ears and avoided looking at either the leader or Badgerpaw as she limped back over. Not a single word came from her as she sat down once more, grimacing but resisting the urge to hiss as a sharp jolt of pain erupted in her forepaw as she sat down.
[ I am deeply, deeply sorry about the delay in this. I had a dip in motivation for Laurelpaw but it's back now! ]
