(haha, that's funny, Rainwhisper is torrentfeathers love interest)
Torrentfeather nodded reluctantly. Part of her was worried Rainwhisper would be angry at her for taking his apprentice, but he trusted her so if she was lucky he wouldn't mind. She nosed Pigeonpaw's ear, turned around and waved her tail, "Let's go then. Perhaps we can have a fishing competition?" she suggested, "what do you think?"
Dodgepaw, who was being ignored, trailed with slightly bristling fur. "I can't fish all that well, Torrentfeather," he meowed. "That's not fair."
Torrentfeather smiled at Dodgepaw in a reluctant sort of way, "then you can hunt mice." And eat them with the other SkyClan intruders.

"That's okay, Dodgepaw," Pigeonpaw looked at the SkyClan apprentice kindly. She lifted one polydactyl paw to show him. Her paws were deformed to have extra toes. "See these? They make it really hard to be stealthy, and hard to catch prey. I'm not so good at fishing either. But we can practice together!" Her tail-tip twitched excitedly. "My first time fishing, I fell right into the river. I ended up catching the fish with my teeth!" She recalled fondly her first outing with Rainwhisper, and how grateful she was that he hadn't made fun of her for that.

Dodgepaw purred, deciding very quickly that he liked Pigeonpaw - so what if she was from RiverClan? Gorsestar hadn't specified that he wasn't allowed to make friends. He lifted his tail. "Wow, that musta been cool. Let's practice, that'd be great!!"
Torrentfeather watched the two apprentices. She wasn't sure if she was glad that Pigeonpaw was being so kind and friendly or if she should be concerned that she was growing to like the strange-smelling other-clan cat. Pushing her worries away she flanked the tom, "Go on ahead," she mewed, "You two can work together to catch as many fish as possible. I'll hunt on my own. Whoever has more fish at the end - me or you two - wins," she waved her tail toward the rocks by the slower-moving patch of running water, "You can fish over there. I'll be right around this willow tree."

"A competition! This is gonna be so fun; we can win, easy! Two against one." Pigeonpaw trotted up to the riverside, forcing herself to hold still despite her excitement. She crouched down on the water's edge, focused on the tiny shadows darting back and forth. She waited until she saw one that looked big enough, raised one paw slowly, and struck out in a flash.
"Mouse-dung!" the gray apprentice exclaimed as the fish darted away from her reach. She shook the water droplets from her whiskers and squinted her eyes as she concentrated once more, one paw raised in preparation.

"Might I suggest farther upstream? The fish may be smaller, but it's less likely that they'll have been scared off from that encounter, so there's bound to be more of them." He looked to the patrol for approval, his tail twitching as he walked.
He noticed Riverpaw's apprehension, and wondered briefly what he could do to make the young cat more comfortable. It was easy to read from her expression how nervous she must be feeling. He wondered what had happened to her that had made her feel that way.

Slowly following the two warriors into the territory she hasn't been put much lately. Ears twitching Riverpaw kind of got lost in her own thoughts not quite listening.
The word dog caught her attention and she fluffed up thinking Eagleflight was talking about a dog then. After sniffing the air the smell silver molly ended up not with embarrassment. There's no dog, he was talking pass tent. River realized. Lowering her head again she kept walking watching the warriors' paws.
When Eagleflight stopped briefly the molly almost walked into Barbedfall, before quickly stepping back. he didn't even fully stop. Looking a little more alert Riverpaw continued walkin. Hunt up steam? As long as they weren't going to run into dogs she was fine. "Your the warriors." She meowed hesitantly.

Mostly annoyed at being up early, Barbedfall kept her grumbled annoyances to herself, instead trying to walk off the sleep that was still settled in her bones. It was interesting to be amongst Riverclan cats on a patrol instead of just Skyclan cats, she only hoped they wouldn't have her fishing all day. She absolutely loathed the idea and would much prefer hunting prey she at least had some notion of catching. Her fishing skills were nearly nonexistant, and she would admit that.
"Sounds like a good plan, I don't feel like getting my tail chewed off by a mutt," spoke the heavy-furred she-cat with a small sigh, finally starting to feel more awake the further they strayed from the camp. Flicking her bushy tail, she looked over at Oakbranch as they spoke, listening to their suggestion. At the mention of fish, the older Skyclan warrior groaned. "Hopefully that's not all we'll be hunting today, I'd prefer to remain as dry as possible. Are there any voles or birds farther upstream?" Briefly she would glance at the apprentice, feeling her come rather close, nearly bumping into her. "Your input is valuable as well, you know this territory better than me." The words were a bit harsh, but Barbedfall meant for it to be inviting, wanting to include the apprentice. She had a soft spot for younger cats.

Eagleflight had nearly forgotten that Barbedfall was not accustomed to fishing. She'll have to learn eventually, if her clan is to stay here with us, he thought to himself. As little as he knew about SkyClan, he still wanted to at least try to make them feel welcome.
"We don't normally hunt birds, but there are plenty of ground-nesting shorebirds around the river if you'd rather look for those." He'd had to think hard on whether or not there was prey upstream that wasn't fish. But he was sure that if Barbedfall was an experienced hunter of land prey, she could find some birds just fine.
He looked to Riverpaw expectantly, hoping to hear some input from her. He had grown quite fond of the young gray apprentice, and wanted to make sure she stayed involved and could use this outing as a learning experience.
"Can you smell the river from here?" he asked her, testing her skills. "You can tell what the water conditions are by scent and sound, even before you see it."

@Dipper
There was a pep to Pebblepaw's step as he marched alongside Fawnpaw. He was beaming with excitement! It seemed like almost every second he was double-taking to look at the other, either checking to make sure they were still there or to say something... there was no real way to tell. "So, you haven't been swimming at all?!" Managing to finally spit out something after what seemed like a painfully long silence, Pebblepaw bounced on his toes as the river began to come into view. "I don't think I could live without it, especially on those awfully hot days. Don't worry though, I've been swimming for as long as I can remember... yeah.. that long!" As he fell back into step, the apprentice puffed his chest out with pride.

Trodding along the path, he spared a glance over his shoulder to ensure they weren't getting too far from camp because he knew they'd get an earful about it later, if caught... or worse, there'd be nobody but Pebblepaw to save him if this didn't go as planned. He gulped. Fawnpaw's excitement didn't match Pebblepaw's, his approach more timid and curious, but he wasn't sure there was a kit in the Clan that could actually outdo his enthusiasm. "I've been swimming," he protested, then coughed, "once. With... Oakflame and Grousestar, but I-- honestly, I don't think I was that great." As Fawnpaw recalled it, he'd barely gotten wet before the session came to a close, and it was probably because Oakflame saw the endeavor as a lost cause.
"So... you're sure that you know how." His clarification was skeptical, shooting Pebblepaw a concerned glance. "Like, good enough to swim all the way across?" More accurately, good enough to save me when I'm drowning? [b]

Blazepaw also agreed with Lionstorm’s suggestion, not that he would need to voice it out loud. He knew Frostflight and Lionstorm weren’t on good terms right now, from what he’d heard from his mentor. He understood the situation as well, in fact, he wasn’t happy to have Frostflight as his mentor. He’d started to appreciate the training, but Frostflight was still too Riverclan for his liking. Blazepaw didn’t believe he could be a Skyclan cat even if he tried. Just like I could never be a Riverclan cat. Water scared him, he’d found that much out while almost drowning during a training session.
He glanced over at Coastpaw again, deciding to try and strike up a casual conversation. “How’s training going?” Maybe he's not drowning every time like me.

@BILL. @Okapi
"Sounds good!" Coastpaw chirped in reply to Lionstorm, turning in the direction he kind of randomly assumed was the correct way - he was pretty bad with directions. However, he had enough sense to wait for the others and follow them instead of trying to take the lead. At Blazepaw's voice, the apprentice was suddenly aware of the fact that there indeed a cat his age on this patrol, he had been so pre-occupied making googly eyes at Lionstorm to remember. "Blazepaw, right?" He meowed with a smile, priding himself at being good with names. The young tom took a second to consider his question. "It's good, I think. I'm clumsy, so I have to practice a lot usually to get things right." He laughed at himself, grinning again. "What about you?"
