Re: Ice racing, the sequal [Rc apprentices and warriors]
Hazelstorm ~ she/her
[8]
100+ Words
~~~
The tabby pushed forwards with all her strength. Well, winging it hadn't been a bad idea. There was a clear stretch here but it was too clear for it to be intentional. Hazelstorm wedged her claws in the ice below, slowing herself but still drifting forwards on all four paws, her green eyes narrowed in suspicion. A snowball hurled through the air, missing her head by inches and Hazelstorm whipped her head around, glaring fiercely. Snakeheart was at the sidelines, throwing snowballs at them! Furious, Hazelstorm gritted her teeth, bending her legs slightly and her head, so that she was in a hunter's crouch position. If she kept herself low, perhaps not too much snowballs would hit her.
Determinedly she slid forwards, speeding up gradually, trying to cross.Once or twice a couple of snowballs flew above her. The air was thick with snowballs being thrown constantly, Hazelstorm doubted Snakeheart could even see her. He probably was just throwing aimlessly.She powered forwards,hoping to get past this snowball-area.
Re: Ice racing, the sequal [Rc apprentices and warriors]
Bristletail ~ 7
100+ words
Bristletail couldn't decide if she hated Snakeheart or respected him enough for it to be nothing more than a strong dislike. Especially when that creature went and sat down next to him placidly. Placidly! So she got bit and it got away just fine. Snakeheart had a snake for a heart and it was not fair. Not fair at all. She made it across the ice easily, following behind Hazelstorm, who was doing slightly better than her, but that was fine. This was for fun, not to win, though, that would be nice. It seemed like a nice clear run to across this part, and that creature wasn't nearby. So, obviously, Snakeheart had something planned. Looking around, she noticed Snakeheart pelting snowballs at those in front of her. Good, she had noticed before she got hit. Racing to the side farthest away from him, Bristletail started to sprint across the ice, hoping his aim wasn't good enough to hit a shape so far away.
Though, Cattail Pond wasn't that big, but denial was a good strategy too. At least that way you wouldn't realize the pain of failing.
Re: Ice racing, the sequal [Rc apprentices and warriors]
~ Goldenpaw
She was coming forward, and quickly, but so were the others and some were well ahead of her. But luckily her assumption about the sides had been correct, and while ease she glided past the part where the ice was thin. She was still slightly behind, and on to the side, but she could still catch up with some luck and effort. Pushing on she was about to test a new technique with her claw in the ice, that might give her more speed, but a little bit of snow swished past her, followed by more. Glaring towards the cursed Medicine cat she wanted to snarl at him to stop and just let them race, without adding in dumb geese or snow attacks, but she had more to focus on. She was already rather far from him, and the first lump of snow seemed to have reached further than most others, so maybe she could avoid them out here. Still she stayed as close to the far edge as she could without risking roots or anything along the lines tripping her, and she could see some other move toward her as well. Yet she let herself shrink down slightly, she wasn’t first, but she was also the one of the few apprentices doing well, and was lean, without much features to catch attention. She might be able to slip by Snakeheart like this.
Wow, she was doing surprisingly well. . .then she felt the snowballs. Eugh! Snow was supposed to be her friend, not her enemy! Well, brute force worked once, wouldn't fail her again!
Re: Ice racing, the sequal [Rc apprentices and warriors]
~Shypaw, 7 points~
Shypaw hissed as the cold water seeped into her fur that was ankle and down. She got back onto the ice and was trying to dry off when she felt the first snowball hit her square in the face. She was knocked backwards and as she stumbled, she felt herself drop and felt the water on her feet again. She had been knocked back into the water. Nothing could be much worse than this. Maybe she could use that as some sort of advantage? She decided to go straight through the snowballs to continue, not caring if she got hit multiple times.
~Lavenderpaw, 7 points~
Lavenderpaw sighed as she got safely through the thin ice. While she wouldn’t mind now if she had fallen through, she wouldn’t have liked to go from goose attack to cold ankles. She watched as Shypaw fell through and she felt bad for her. That’s when the first snowball hit her on the side of her head. She shook her head and ducked as another snowball came towards her. Snowballs! Lavenderpaw started jumping as best as she could to try and catch the snowballs while also progressing through the ice. Instead of catching snowballs, perhaps she would avoid them?
Re: Ice racing, the sequal [Rc apprentices and warriors]
@ RiztheHuntress you rolled a 18 for Wolfsong and a 13 for Moonfrost! +2 & 2 points!
Total score: 5 & 6
Staring down Snakeheart Wolfsong somehow masterfully dodges the snowey barrage (perhaps because she intimidated the medicine cat) and gets across fast until he can no longer reach! Moonfrost on the otherpaw doesnt even risk getting his streaking across the ice while the tom is distracted with Wolfsong gaining more ground as she does.
@ NinjaBloss you rolled a 3 for Shiningbird! +1 points!
Total score: 8
Nope making yourself smaller has only gotten him to target you and youre quickly hit in the side three times until you pull out of range of his throws and escape.
@ eclipse. you rolled a 16 for Hazelstorm! +2 points!
Total score: 10
Hahahahaha Snakeheart just slipped grabbing some snow and got powder all over his nose! Its the perfect opportunity to continue your lead un snowballed and you go running off ahead of the others!
@ Pheasantflight you rolled a 17 for Bristletail! +2 points!
Total score: 9
Ya know its pretty ironic that Snakeheart was named for his love of his clan when the name itself implies the complete opposite and he seems to enjoy tormenting the clan huh. Still he manages to miss you as you go streaking past and while he nails the cat next to you you end up just fine. This time at least.
@ Singing Jay you rolled a 18 for Goldenpaw! +2 points!
Total score: 8
Well you get clipped a couple times but manage to get by really quickly until a tree blocks you from Snakeheart and he can no longer get at you. You managed to make good time too but have the sinking feeling the trials arent done yet.
@ WinterMara you rolled a 7 for Whitepaw! +1 points!
Total score: 6
Thump thump thump thump! You hear that? Thats the sound of snow nailing you in the side as Snakeheart somehow get the accuracy of the gods and pelts you with snow balls. Jerk.
@ ~Fierce~ you rolled a 18 for Shypaw and a 8 for Lavenderpaw! +2 & 1 points!
Total score: 9 & 8
Is?... Is Snakeheart being a little snot and targeting Lavenderpaw with soft balls of snow because it amuses him? Yes he is. Shypaw gets across unhindered as the medicine cat completly targets her and ignores the other apprentice giggling like a loon as he does with an affectionate "Youre not exempt Lav-bug! I fully expect revenge later!"
Next Prompt: Now this trail isnt actually Snakehearts fault for once as a fallen tree is tilted into the ice on the track. You can go over or under but which is the right choice?
Re: Ice racing, the sequal [Rc apprentices and warriors]
Hazelstorm || she/her [10]
[word count=100+]
~~~
A grin lit up her features as Hazelstorm pushed forwards, noticing Snakeheart slipping and getting snow on his face. Perfect! Smirking, Hazelstorm proceeded to the next obstacle, that's what Snakeheart got for being such a hindrance, haha! She slowed herself down, it seemed she was in the lead. Which was great, obviously. Her green eyes found a huge tree trunk in the way. She could go over it, or under it. Hazelstorm thought that it was way better to go OVER it, since you would be in the air. If you crawled udner it there was always chance that the ice would crack and send you plummeting into the icy waters below.
The tabby felt her grin going wider as she bunched her muscles letting all the weight go to her haunches and rear legs before quickly leaping off the ground, attempting to leap past the tree trunk, arching as high as she could. Her legs were splayed out, like a spider, so hopefully she would land on all four paws.

Re: Ice racing, the sequal [Rc apprentices and warriors]
Shimmerbird - 8
[100+ words, were we supposed to do this the entire time because I haven't been :')]
Dang it, Snakeheart! Shimmerbird had really hoped that her penguin tactic would work again, but apparently all it had done was make her a larger target. What had she done to deserve this horrible treatment? But there was no time to ponder because the next obstacle was fast approaching and she'd rather not slam her straight into that tree thank you very much. Seeing that her friend Hazelstorm decided to go over the molly made the decision to go under and show her what the correct decision was! Remaining in her penguin position Shimmerbird continued to push herself forwards in hopes easily sliding under the tree branch and making it closer to the lead.

Re: Ice racing, the sequal [Rc apprentices and warriors]
~Shypaw, 9 points~
Shypaw let out a well earned sigh of relief as she passed through mostly untouched. The only snowball that had hit her was the one from earlier so she was fine. She skated forward and then stopped as she saw the tree that blocked the way. She could see that there were two ways across it; over or under. Both had their pros and cons but she decided to go under. She didn’t have long legs and would probably just fall or something. She skated closer to the tree and headed towards the highest gap that was still on the ice. She crouched like she was hunting and headed forward.
~Lavenderpaw, 8 points~
Lavenderpaw squealed as she got hit. While she was going slow, she wasn’t hating it. She was there for a while before she became conscious that she was in a race. She stopped trying to get hit and made it through what was left to cross. She looked back to stick her tongue out at Snakeheart before she shook all the snow from her fur. She skated quickly through before she caught up to everyone else. It seemed that there was a tree here. She could see some cats going under and some going over. Lavenderpaw decided to go over. She had long legs so it wouldn’t be as difficult. She headed to the lowest part of the tree and she started climbing over it.

Re: Ice racing, the sequal [Rc apprentices and warriors]
~ Goldenpaw
A few soft lumps of snow made contact despite the distance between her and the medicine cat, but most either fails to reach her, or were stopped by other cats as they got hit, well it was all the better for her, this was a race after all. She redirected her focus forward, and saw… a tree? Well at least Snake heart hadn’t thrown in the tree, so the blame for it didn’t fall fully in him.
Now the question was if she should squeeze under, or attempt to leap over. Both had their risks, she could get stuck, or slip in her leap, landing wrong if she managed to get a good leap going at all. But the sidelines had seemed to favor her this far, and she wasn’t giving up on an asset just like that. She lowered herself to gaze under the tree, making sure no cracks or anything like that were hiding on the other side, before using a little place of bark that was frozen down in the ice to push off off, hopefully securing her leap. Now, assuming she had calculated everything right, she should land preferably on the other side, she had even prepared herself for the slippery impact, she just had to get this right…
