So, close. So, close. And there! Bristletail made her way past the last snowball only to come up short at the sight of a tree. Darn, she had been so close! When did this end? She stopped the moping as she noticed Hazelstorm once again take the lead. No fair, how was it that she got away from all of Snakehearts challenges easily and Bristletail just got slowed down. As much as she wanted to squirm under the tree in an attempt to get ahead, she knew it simply wasn't possible. Instead, Bristletail ran to where the tree was the lowest to the ground, preparing to hop over without climbing.

Its a bird! Its a plane! Is a really weird looking hare? Nope its Hazelstorm soaring above the fallen tree clearing it entirely and landing with only a small skid on the other side!

Its lucky you used the bark that you did as sailing over the tree you see its actually very icy in all other places! If you'd tried to climb it instead of jump you'd be falling right down again! Lucky!

Oooooh you are so close you can almost taste Hazelstorms tail as shes ahead of you but beyond her fluffy behind you can see the end of the race with Snakeheart cheering like his heart depends on it! This is your chance!

~Shypaw, 11 points~
Shypaw comes out the other end and shakes away any pieces of small bark she had when she sees the finish line. Was that it? She couldn't believe that she was here already. She takes a quick look around before she skids off forward, putting every burst of speed she has in her. She didn't care if she fell. She was already going, her blue gaze trained on the finish line. Behind her, you could see that she was leaving small chips of ice, what was left of evidence that she had passed through there. She was determined to try her best and if she didn't come out a winner, she knew she had fun.

~Lavenderpaw, 10 points~
Lavenderpaw dug her claws into the trunk only slightly. She didn't want to waste time in getting her claws out from the tree trunk because they had gotten stuck. Soon, she found herself on the other side of the tree. That's when she spotted Shypaw streaking forward. She found out why as she looked forward. It was the finish line! She remembered back to the beginning of the race and she smiled. She was going to have fun! She skated forward a little and then pushed herself forward at full force. She then sat down and squealed in delight as she went soaring forward on the ice. She saw the finish line getting closer and closer.

A smug grin flickered across her expression as Hazelstorm landed neatly on the other side of the trunk on all fours, with only a small skid. Grinning, she pushed forwards, scenting Bristletail hard on her tail. Squinting ahead the brown tabby saw Snakeheart at the finish line, and Hazelstorm huffed, he was the one who'd caused most of the hindrances!

No time to dwell on that now though. Hazelstorm decided that since there were no obstacles, she'd just have to glide forwards. She carefully sat on her haunches, sweeping her tail out to potentially stall any other cats behind her . Hazelstorm unsheathed and then hooked her claws into the ice below, creating two smll, shallow cuts. She gripped them, and then leaned back slightly, pushing herself forwards. Hopefully, with the momentum, it would send her pretty far to reach the finish line. It didn't matter if she won. But Hazelstorm was determined not to be last.

The final stretch. As she made her way passed the tree, she hissed at the sight of Hazelstorms tail, biting back the urge to nip it. She should've been in front! Not fair! But life wasn't fair, she was beginning to realize. Especially when Snakeheart was involved. Her blue eyes narrowed as she sped through the ice, hoping to take notice of any potential problems while still running. If she stopped to evaluate, well, let's just say that coming in the first three positions wouldn't be an option. "Hazelstorm!" Bristletail yelled out the name in an attempt to distract her, knowing it probably wouldn't work, but hey, worth a shot.

She had gotten used to running on the ice at this point, her claws digging small groves every few inches. It was easy now, yet still a bit slippery at time. Bristletail was so close. She could almost taste the glory of the finish line, but of course, there was still a tail in front of her. This was not happening. Bristletail, the queen of almost good enough, would not settle for that. She was not going to be second today! "Eep!" With one final push, she launched herself forward, hoping to fly past (or into) Snakeheart before her adversary.

The finish line is in sight and you couldnt be happier for it! As paws scrabble over the icy slick adrenaline rushes though its hard to get a good grip without listing to the side. Still run you do and make it across the finish line in good time you manage to and the race finds its finish finally.

The ice glitters beautifully as you make the final sprint flinging tiny shards of frozen water onto your pelt making it shimmer like the pond below you. Its a beautiful end to the race and you find yourself appreciating the experience despite the troubles its caused you in the end.

Bowling a world loved spot! You bowled a Snakeheart! With a loud shriek the medicine cat goes down thrown head over paws causing him to tumble away onto the ice. Then as he tried to scrabble to his paws the tom failed further limbs spread akimbo on the frozen pond. Wonderful bit of karma there for you.

As the medicine cat continued to try and regain his footing he let out a squawk of "Alright then you lot games over! First place Hazelstorm second Bristletail you clumsy clod and third Shypaw! Thank you everyone for racing! Congratulations winners! Foxdung damnnit Bristletail you had to hit me..." Before shakily managing to get to his paws and awkwardly waddling to the shore not at all graceful as the racers were not moments ago.

Crossing the finish line, she stopped and turned around to see the other racers. A smile shone brightly on her face, like a sun shining through the mist. She'd won. Actually won.
