( this is definitely not based on the musical haha )
In a small clearing in the woods, a small family lives their life in a reasonably calm setting. [Cat 1] and [Cat 2] are the parents of [Cat 3], and they all live together in a loving setting. That all changes one day, when [Cat 1] falls in love with [Cat 4], and [Cat 1] tries to merge [Cat 4] into his family, keeping his previous mate and child, but also being able to love [Cat 4]. This doesn't go over well with any of them, and they eventually start to live apart. To help deal with this [Cat 1] and [Cat 2] start individually talking to [Cat 5], who is serving them as a psychiatrist, helping them get through this split up and helping [Cat 1] understand his sexuality. Through [Cat 2] and [Cat 5]'s sessions, they gradually begin to fall in love with each other.
While all of this is happening, [Cat 3] is beginning to question their own sexuality, praying that they don't turn out to be a homosexual like their father, becoming moodier and withdrawn with each day. [Cat 2] is breaking down this whole time, while trying to keep their life together. [Cat 1] and [Cat 2] decide that [Cat 3] needs to talk to [Cat 5], in other words, start to go to therapy. [Cat 3] keeps saying they won't go, but eventually asks [Cat 4] if they should go. [Cat 4] says yes, after more or less being forced to by [Cat 1] and [Cat 2]. This all happens on one condition, that [Cat 5] comes to their den. They all agree, and [Cat 5] begins to come over for therapy sessions with [Cat 3], and they often stay for a meal as well.
This goes on for a while, until [Cat 3] confronts [Cat 5] about their intentions towards their parent. Shortly after that, [Cat 5] asks [Cat 2] to become their mate, a thing that infuriates [Cat 1], as he is losing both his family and his psychiatrist. During this, [Cat 1] and [Cat 4] have an argument, and they break up. While [Cat 4] begins to leave, [Cat 2] and [Cat 5] begin to move in together, living with each other. After hearing of [Cat 2] and [Cat 5]'s engagement, [Cat 1] gets angry at [Cat 2] accusing them of ruining the family, breaking down in a rage and scratching [Cat 2]. Shocked by his actions, everyone confesses that they never intended to feel so deeply about the cats in their lives, and accept the pain that love can bring.
[Cat 1] is done with [Cat 4], and his relationship with [Cat 2] in tatters, but [Cat 1] tries to fix their relationship with [Cat 3], telling them that they're proud of them, no matter what.

Two years have passed by, and two more cats have begun to live in the clearing. [Cat 6] is trained in medicine, and serves as a doctor to various rouges and loners, and [Cat 7] is a cat who likes to experiment with different ways to serve and eat prey. [Cat 1] is still not over [Cat 4], but he now gets to see [Cat 3] more than he did after the original break up. [Cat 2] and [Cat 5] are now mates. [Cat 1] and [Cat 2] begin to bicker once again as they both want to have a ceremony for [Cat 3] learning to live on their own, but they can't agree on what to do. [Cat 5] says that they should just hold a small party, but the other two are hearing none of it, intent on making somethat that [Cat 3] will remember.
[Cat 1] and [Cat 2] are now beginning to teach [Cat 3] to hunt, with the occasional help of [Cat 5]. During one of the lessons where [Cat 1] is teaching, [Cat 4] shows up again, and helps [Cat 3] perfect a hunting stance. [Cat 1] asks [Cat 4] if they would like to get together again the minute [Cat 3] pounces on a piece of prey and is too surprised to kill it. For a while, there's peace, but it doesn't last very long, as [Cat 1] and [Cat 2] continue to fight about what to do for the celebration they want to hold. This makes [Cat 3] just want to cancel it, and run away, but [Cat 5] consoles them, telling them at everything will eventually get better.
[Cat 6] is beginning to notice that many of the cats that come to them are beginning to have a similar disease that [Cat 6] doesn't have any cure for. Most cats have some sort of bite mark, though others don't seem to have any physical symtoms, other then phycially looking worse. These cats are starting to die, and [Cat 6] is beginning to realize that something very bad is happening. Then suddenly, while [Cat 1] and [Cat 4] are hunting, [Cat 4] collapses, and [Cat 1] frantically takes them to [Cat 6], who relates what happened to [Cat 4] as what was happening to other cats who came to them.
[Cat 4] is given an area for him to stay, and everyone gathers around him, telling him that he looks great, and offering food, and so on. Only [Cat 3] tells him the truth, that he looks horrible. [Cat 2] and [Cat 5] give [Cat 3] the option to go leave and live their own life, but [Cat 3] refuses, deciding to have the small ceremony with [Cat 4] and everyone else. When they all learn that [Cat 4] is most likely going to die, [Cat 3] storms off, upset and confused, while [Cat 4] takes it with digity. They have the ceremony, and once it's over, [Cat 4] collapses, and dies a few moments later.
That night, [Cat 1] sees [Cat 4] in their dreams, and asks them what his life would be if they had not loved each other, and [Cat 4] asks [Cat 1] if he regrets their relationship, and [Cat 1] says he would do it all over again.
The next day, they bury [Cat 4], and [Cat 1] finally begins to break down.
