Trouble, a kittypet, is released from her home every morning. This morning, she decides to go into the woods. As she wanders around, she discovers the scent of other cats. Deciding to follow them, she catches some WindClan cats hanging around the ThunderClan border, sharing a pigeon. Not knowing that these are wild Clan cats, she approaches them, catching them off their gaurd. Since stealing prey is against the warrior code, they proceed to beat her up. She kicks one into the dust with a bleeding eye and the others stare at her in shock/surprise/'ugh'. She stares in horror at the blood and approaches the bleeding cat, planning to ask if they're okay, but is blocked by a warrior. Trouble is daunted by the sheer size of the cat in front of her and runs back into the ferns. But she doesn't leave. As she sees the other cats caring for their wounded clanmate, she feels a strong instinct to help them. She wants to learn more about them and possibly even... be cared about like that. Trouble pushes timidly out of the ferns and approaches the cats, a leaf stuck to her ear. Some apprentice snickers as the warrior who blocked her flicks the leaf off of her ear, causing her to duck her head. Somehow this develops into the clan cats leaving and getting back to their camp, Trouble following them. She sees the camp and decides to watch from afar, catching the attention of a cat below. They yowl up at her and she crouches, frozen by fear, as a patrol of cats races up to her and drags her to their camp. She lashes ot feebly at the cats dragging her, trying to break free of their iron grip. She fails. She is held in a den, with cats casting suspicious glances at her past the body of the guard.
Later, a cat slips into the den, carrying a leg of rabbit. They strike up a conversation with her and Trouble finds out that she has a lot in common with this cat. The stranger, not leaving their name, exits and Trouble is left alone, more lonely than before. She awaits the arrival of the cat the next morning as she lays on the smooth floor of her prison. They don't come. She waits, and waits, and waits some more. They next day the stranger comes back, carrying some more food. She finds out the cat's name and why she's here and what this place is and why there are so many cats here and...
and... and...
Trouble wakes up to an empty den.
