In the far future humanity's technological prowess has developed to such a point that the mind itself can be uploaded known as the uplink. However, 17 years after the invention of the uplink nuclear war broke out among the countries of the world driving all of its inhabitants to uplink themselves. In preparation for such an event the Conscious Interactive Simulated Earth, or CISE, was created to house the new humans in a familiar world to their own.

 

3 thousand years since the great upload have passed. The terminals and server stacks that house humanity have been repaired by nanomachines during those years. However, all machinery has its limits. Recently more and more server stacks have become corrupted to the point their stored consciousnesses can no longer be considered human or even alive. The corrupted are more like strands of code that loop and repeat forever in cycles of never-ending torment. The lucky ones don't know that they are looping those who do however retain their memories often descend into madness.

 

Thanks to human life being code each human who isn't corrupted has a "Backup" protocol for when they die. Should a person be killed they will just reappear in their home, unharmed and safe. The backup has led to the value of human life being diminished as they don't truly die. The sentence of murdering another human has likewise been diminished to a small fine and a month in therapy.

 

Money still has its place in society allowing people to buy software and move to different server stacks. The wealthiest can buy the VIP sections of a sever stack in order to preserve themselves longer as the sections have a larger collection of nanobots and a private storage unit for their consciousness. People still need to do work in the form of designing stock purchasing algorithms, furniture, entertainment, etc. Not all people use legal channels, however, despite advanced security programs hackers still find ways to scam, steal, and deceive.

 

With the current spread of corruption the cries of those who call themselves the "Survivors" grow stronger every day. The survivors believe that because resources are still limited and that the corruption is spreading that they must do everything in their power to prolong their lives no matter the cost (A view disliked by the general public). Others believe that they should live their lives to the fullest and then remove their consciousness from their server to give room for more people. While this belief is well received by the public and many claim to follow it few truly follow through with their obligation. There is however another group known as the Reinigung who create viruses designed to turn on of their followers into something like a kamikaze. These followers download a virus to their consciousness and activate it in a server stack causing a total wipeout of thousands of others at once and making the server stack unusable. The technicians (The CISE's version of the police) make sure to thwart the efforts of Reinigung. The technicians are people who patrol the virtual cities of the CISE. Technicians granted limited access to the control console of CISE allowing them to analyze a person's consciousness or move a criminal into a cell. Some technicians are allowed to turn off the backup protocol of a consciousness as long as they have a warrent.

 

Another great part of the uplink is that anyone can be anything. Given that you pay the according fee's you can change your persona at will morphing your appearance to suit you better. Many change themselves to match their perspective of perfection or even change their gender. And of course, the furry community does what they do.

Appearance: As a consciousness, she is a very tall, athletic girl, with caramel skin, white hair and yellow eyes. She wears kind of e-girl clothing except a lot more toned down and practical. Her real life appearance has pale skin with caramel undertones, dirty blonde hair and brown eyes.
Bio (Your choice): Her parents were tech gurus and probably worked on the technology that uploaded consciousness. She was uploaded with her whole family pretty early on. Her parents are wealthy but probably very busy dealing with coding and stuff. Now she's an adult and beginning her career at designing different features. She is merely a newbie in her company, barely more than an intern, but she's doing well. Despite her designing talent, her heart has recently been longing for a real adventure and the desire to help those in need.

Appearance: His consciousness and real life appearance are incredibly similar, the only difference is his eye color. He has black, short, ruffled hair and crimson red eyes. But in real life, his eyes are a deep red. He has peach colored skin and often wears a black mask over his mouth and nose for reasons unknown. He wears a lot of earrings including chain earrings. He wears a lot of hoodies and black pants and basically, casual clothes. ( *cOUGH* linky if needed )
Bio: (i assume this is like backstory-) Jaran isn't wealthy in any way, his mother died in a house fire and his father abandoned him at a young age. He was blamed for starting the fire by his father and was abused fairly often, due to this, he's incredibly cold to anyone and everyone and has a hard time opening up. He barely managed to get his consciousness uploaded, it took a while for him to get enough money to do so.

She has long black hair with one green eye and one yellow one. she has tight black leggings and pink high heel boots. A heart on her chest suit area. She also has finger less gloves. Whensshe happens so get mad the robot part on her face spreads to the middle of her face too. Also pale skin.
Bio: Kind shy sweet girl. Fun athletic and loves loves LOVES entertaining others. It was told she was a failed experement so she decided to entertain for her own desiher.

Bio (Your choice): Lily never saw much of any of her family and when her parents where around they where alway fighting. Her only escape was hanging out with her older brother Jasper. After a while when she was 15 Jasper and Lily ran away. The two where caught and there was a fight in which Lily and Jasper where separated. Lily has no clue what happened to him but continued her way of life. She is currently a hacker. @Norway INC
