Holes!

Rushingmoor stood with his tail flicking thoughtfully and his eyes narrowed. Where was the best place to put the holes? Definitely some place out of the way... here. Right beside the prey pile made the most sense of course. Now he just had to find volunteers.

Trotting to the center of the clearing, Mushy looked around at the cats killing about. He could choose random cats and tell them to help but that didn’t seem like the best way to go about it. Asking for volunteers always had the potential to go wrong too, though. Oh well, he’d have to see how it went.

“Who feels like digging holes this morning? We need a few prey holes for leaf bare so I need a few volunteers!”

Cricketpaw heard him talking about making holes. The apprentice wanted to help. It sounded like fun. "I would love to help. Maybe find some nesting crickets.", she meowed. The molly didn't know if they even made nest under the ground but hey it didn't hurt to look. Plus she'd have something to do.

Fallenstorm lifted her head and turned to look at Rushingmoor. "C'mon Nettlepaw lets go." The warrior said. Nettlepaw had been napping but she was wide awake as Fallenstorm ditched her to go dig holes. And invited her. Nettlepaw grumbled a bit but stood and followed her mother. "We'll help." Nettlepaw said when they reached Rushingmoor. @Beau

"ME!" Loonkit was in front of Rushingmoor before the warrior had barely finished his sentence, bouncing up and down on their toes with a giant grin. Their ears just barely reached the middle of Rushingmoor's, but that didn't stop them from reaching up with one very short leg in an attempt to bat the warrior's nose. "I want to dig a hole! Pick! Me!" And if they dug enough holes, maybe they could shove Swankit into one! And bury him in the snow! And maybe Rushymoor could help!

Hearing a call of someone else caring somewhat about whether last leafbare was repeated or not(she would prefer not) Wishpool padded over, willing to do basically anything. It wasn't that she disliked holes anyway, tunnels were just big ones, so it was just like making their own. And it was certainly a bonus that it would keep them fed. Hopefully Rushingmoor had a plan to send some cats hunting, since they couldn't just dig holes, empty holes wouldn't fill any bellies. Raising her voice a little, the queen called I'll help. @Beau

“me me me me me!!” robinpaw exclaimed eagerly, glancing over at rushmore as he heard stuff about digging. digging sounded fun! he wanted to dig. he had no idea if there was a right way to dig or if he’d be any good at it, but hey — it also meant he could see if he could find any worms in the ground to collect, and that was great. win-win! excitement visible in his body, the tan and cream apprentice beamed at rushmore. rushingmore? hm.. no, rushmore made sense. yes, yes, his name was definitely rushmore. he looked like a rushmore. maybe a rushmoor… who knows. it was a mystery robinpaw had yet to solve. maybe digging would help him solve it somehow.

Wow, that was fast! Rushingmoor hadn’t been expecting so many volunteers so quickly but it worked perfectly. He had three holes planned at least to begin with so around two cats per hole would work.

“Perfect!” Rushingmoor grinned at the gathered cats. “Alright, Cricketpaw and Robinpaw- you two can handle one hole to dig between the two of you, right? You can tackle digging this area.”

The striped Tom patted the frosted earth beside him before heading to the left of it to point at where he wanted the second hole.

“Fireleg and Wishpool, why don’t you two team of for this one. Nettlepaw and Fallenstorm, can you collect some moss to put on the bottom and over the top. It’ll keep the prey from getting too wet or dirty. Loonkit,” he turned his attention to the youngest among them, “that leaves you and me. Does that work for everyone?”

Stepping over next to Fireleg, Wishpool wasted no time with talking or anything for that matter before getting down to digging at the dirt. It was frozen and pretty hard packed, but she was able to make a decent sized area loosened up at the very least. She knew it would have to get a lot bigger, and have moss in it to keep it clean, but at least she could begin scooping the frozen granules into a small pile behind her. She wasn't sure if they were going to cover the prey up once it was in the holes, but it was best to save some of the dirt in case. @Beau @Kipo Oak
