The camp is a solid ground with the tree roots as the dens and the leader's den a old owl home. Outside her den, is the meeting place, Owl branch is where meetings are held. There is a small pool of swampy water where kits learn to swim in.

Adderkit crouched by the pool, staring at the water. His fur was bristled with fear and his tiny paws were inches away from ripples. Suddenly, a bird hopped from the trees above into the pool, splashing water onto Adderkit. He squeaked and ran to the nursery, hiding behind a large leaf.

Adderkit peaked around the leaf at the water again. The bird had flown away, and he crept forward. His leaned over the water, staring at his reflection.

The little kit glanced up at her, and back down at the water. He took a small step into it and shivered, but he did not run. Adderkit took another step, then another. Soon, he was chin deep.
