In the shady silence of cabin number three, Percy sighed as he tossed Riptide onto his bed, the celestial bronze ringing softly upon impact with the feathery comforter. He scuffled off his sneakers, flinging them to the side, and peeled off the sweaty socks beneath them. Ducking back through the open door, he stepped out into the waning sunlight, barefoot, and started for the hill at the top of the camp. The smell of strawberries lingered faintly in the air, but the teenage demigod was almost too exhausted to notice.

It had been a long day of training- battle moves, climbing the lava wall, unintentionally grapple hooking a satyr- that had been an adventure- and battle moves all over again. It was his fourth year at camp now, and some days... he almost missed being a normal kid. Almost.

Percy groaned as he eased himself into a sitting position on the crest of the hill, every muscle aching. The sunlight streamed like liquid honey across the expansive ocean horizon, and he was almost immediately refreshed by the sea breeze that ruffled his unruly dark hair. So still. Almost peaceful, if it weren't for the half-crazed war shouts in the background.

The grass rustled behind him and he glanced over his shoulder. A wide grin stretched across his face.

"Annabeth! You going to join me?"

Thank the gods, he thought as he patted the grass beside him. For a moment there he had almost seemed serious.

Annabeth grumbled as she wiped away some sweat. Her blonde hair was a mess and she fixed it as she walked. She had not expected things to be so...chaotic.



Oh well... she thought. That's demigod life.


She heard Percy calling her name and laughed. "Of course, Seaweed Brain." she walked over and sat beside him. "Busy day, huh?." she asked, smiling.

She heard Percy calling her name and laughed. "Of course, Seaweed Brain." she walked over and sat beside him. "Busy day, huh?." she asked, smiling.

Percy exhaled, running his fingers through his hair."I guess you could say that," he laughed. "You too?" He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, resisting the urge to brush a stray strand of blonde hair back from her face. Dang, he never could figure out just how she settled for him for she was this beautiful. Not to mention smart. And she was never hotter than after a long day of hard work.

Absentmindedly, he plucked a strand of grass from the ground and twirled it between his fingers. He leaned over and tapped her pinky, ticking it with the blade mischievously.

His eyes flicked to the water, and an idea sparked. Grabbing her hand, he nodded toward the shore and winked. "Do you wanna head down to the beach?"

"Remember when we were thrown into the lake? That was such an unexpected plan for the day." she giggled softly. "And sure. I haven't had the time to do that since well...since a few months ago."

He gestured sheepishly toward the ocean. "I had something I wanted to show you."
