Treatment Found!

After the WindClan fire, some cats were left with breathing issues, some more severe than others, but all caused by the same, underlying issue. Scarring in the lungs caused by severe smoke inhalation. Originally, I had a long term plot meant for Lightningpaw to find a treatment for this. It is not a cure, but if your character's condition isn't far too severe, it could essentially give them the ability to return to their previous clan life routines, and give them the ability to spring to a run once more without breaking into coughs or being stopped by shortness of breath, an important ability in WindClan particularly.

Unfortunately, her original patient has gone missing during the final stage of the plot. Having ruled out various herbs as possible cures, there is only one herb left to try. Sorrel, which Lightningpaw has found cropping everywhere and has decided to try out, having extenuated every other herb she can think of. The herb is harmless, and having tried it herself she knows will do no ill to the cat involved in the experimental herb trial. What she didn't realize was that the hunger she felt after her own testing was related to the sorrel, instead assuming that it was natural hunger as she hadn't eaten all day. This is where your cat comes in!

After Lightningpaw gives your character enough sorrel to hopefully have an effect... it has an effect alright, just not on their lungs. Your character will get ravenous. So hungry, in fact, they will overeat, resulting in a nasty stomachache that they will have to go to Lightningpaw for. Lightningpaw will then realize the sorrel is the cause of this empty stomach syndrome - patent pending - and after apologizing for not realizing the sorrel must have been the cause, she will feed your character juniper berries to soothe their stomach. Going by to check up on your character later during the day to see if the stomachache has subsided, they will admit that not only is their stomachache less severe, their breathing seems to be better than ever after the fire.

So, what am I looking for in a character? Pretty much a character that would feel comfortable testing herbs for Lightningpaw, would not ignore the feeling of starvation and be prone to overeating because of insatiable hunger, be honest with Lightningpaw about symptoms, and most importantly, have been suffering from breathing problems since the fire that drove them from their first home. While I would prefer a preexisting character that has been around since the fire or before, I would gladly accept a character made for this plot as well!

For the first patient, I will have Lightningpaw choose Fogfoot, as she is most familiar with him so she would probably go to him first and ask for his help in testing out herbs to cure the symptoms. It will be noticeable in time that it is a treatment more so than a cure, but it should be an effective treatment whenever anyone is feeling short of breath! I'll be starting the roleplay in a private thread so it doesn't get in the way of your current roleplays with Fog!

Once the berries are administered to Fogfoot and the effect is discovered, Lightning will be wanting to conduct a few more tests just to ensure that the berries are working as intended, and will search for both Brokencrest and Halfpaw to verify effectivity, making your characters effectively treated! I'll give you both mentions once the time comes. Thank you very much to everyone for the help!

Also, I noticed that Fogfoot and Brokencrest seem to not be in the allegiances right now? Not sure if they are missing or weren't resubmitted after the update or something else is up, but just thought I should let you both know just in case!
