The Broken Kingdom: book 1- Shadow's return
Long ago, there was a mystical land called Equestria, ruled by four princesses. Celestia, a born alicorn, said to be the most powerful and wisest, raises the sun to begin anither new day. Princess Luna, guardian of the night, and bringer of dreams and nightmares, raises the Moon to bring in the night. Princess Cadence, Ruler of the crystal empire, and married to Prince Shining Armor, bringer of love and happiness. And finally, princess Twilight Sparkle, ruler of magic and friendship, and the center piece of the elements if harmony. One day, there was a massive earthquake, that split Equestria in two. Many tried to cross to the other side, to reach their families and friends, but unknowing of the danger in that darkness below. Creatures and monsters rose up and killed many, destroying everything. The princesses faught their hardest to slay the demons, but only more kept coming. They had one last option. Luna and Twilight moved to the western side, and rules their own kingdom there and Celestia and Cadence moved to the northern side and ruled there instead. To protect their subjects, the born alicorns created separate barriers to keep from the beasts. The magic was very strong, and almost unbreakable, well, almost.
