As soon as the meeting concluded, Mountaintalon rose to his feet and nudged Sunflowerpaw with his shoulder. "Come on, let's go. What do you have done so far? I need to know where to start with you."

Sunflowerpaw got to her paws and stretched before following her mentor. Her feathery tail swayed behind her as she trotted behind Mountaintalon. ´´I've learned the hunting crouch and how to stalk prey, but that's about it,´´ She mewed, tipping her head to the side. ´´Violetfreckle didn't teach me much after that. She never took me for a territory tour, either, considering I started my training during the lockdown.´´

"That's it? And you're how many moons old?" Mountaintalon's ears twitched as he led her out of camp. Some cats... at least he was focused on actually getting training done despite his dislike of having to watch over any apprentice who wasn't of his blood. "Fine, then. We will begin with the borders, and then perhaps some combat if we have enough time left over. Follow."
Without waiting for Sunflowerpaw's input or any sort of confirmation, he turned to lead the way to the nearest one. Was it the safest? Likely not, but Clan life wasn't exactly safe either. He stopped once at the crest of the earth before it sloped down into the riverbank and gestured with one forepaw. "This is Smallpines, our main border with RiverClan. Cattail Pond also technically serves as a secondary boundary, but this one is the most important. Our scent markers stop at the bank down there. Mind the river - unless you somehow have learned how to swim on your own, any curiosity you might have isn't worth the risk of being swept away."

Sunflowerpaw followed the tom over to the RiverClan border, her nose bridge wrinkling with disgust as RiverClan scent hit her nose. ´´They could at least try to smell nicer,´´ She complained bitterly, giving a single lash of her tail. ´´You think they would. They have StarClan knows how many rivers and bodies of water to themselves in their territory.´´
With a soft snort, Sunflowerpaw tested out the name of the border with her voice. ´´Smallpines,´´ She mewed, much softer than her earlier complaint. ´´I suppose the name suits the terrain.´´ The golden-and-cream ThunderClanner stood beside Mountaintalon, her ears twitching.
"Unfortunately they remain uncourteous to the rest of us," Mountaintalon grunted. "Their smells is the lesser of their crimes. I assume you know what they've done - the stealing, the murders, the poison, all leading up to their eventual exile?"

Sunflowerpaw nodded whenever Mountaintalon mentioned the crimes. ´´Yes, I do. If I recall, Stormstar murdering Fallownose was the last straw, driving Twilightstar to the point where she called on ThunderClan and ShadowClan to help WindClan drive RiverClan out for two moons, correct?´´ Oh, she knew. Of course Sunflowerpaw knew. But she wanted to hear Mountaintalon say that she was, in fact, correct. Just for the affirmation.
"That is correct." Mountaintalon stared at the border across the river, searching for any sign of movement through the sparser undergrowth. "But just because they've been allowed to retake their place amongst the territories does not mean they're forgiven."
He cast her an appraising look. "I do not know your stance on relationships with the other Clans, so I will warn you now: speaking with them during Gatherings to obtain information is fine, but do not let it become anything more, especially with a RiverClan cat. Outer-Clan relationships are a weakness. Your loyalty should be to ThunderClan alone if you wish to keep your place here."

A wide grin spread out on Sunflowerpaw's maw as Mountaintalon confirmed her statement. It faded rather quickly, however, when he started on about relationships with the other Clans. ´´I haven't been to a Gathering, so I really wouldn't know,´´ The apprentice shrugged whenever her mentor had finished talking. ´´And, quite frankly, I wouldn't want to form outer-Clan relationships with them, anyway. There are perfectly likeable cats here in ThunderClan.´´
He clicked his tongue disapprovingly. "You will come with me to the next one, then. Even if the news from the other Clans is boring, it's still a good opportunity."
He signaled for her to move on with a wave of his tail and turned away from the river. The next stop was Herondive Hollow. Mountaintalon paused at the tree bridge and stepped aside to give Sunflowerpaw room to cross. "You first," he ordered. "You'll have to cross it at some point; the border is on the other side. This piece of land we share with ShadowClan used to be whole until sinkholes and caused by collapsing split the territory and created this gap in the earth. Don't slip." The tree bridge was a little icy, but he'd follow close behind her in case she did lose her footing.
