Nettlepaw scrambled onto a big-ish rock, looking to Dragonflycliff before facing the clan. Considering the prey pile was basically empty aside from one hunting patrol’s catches, it was nearly impossible for Nettlepaw to reason with themself to not make this event. Where in Starclan was that Sunkissed Creek patrol, anyway?

Shaking their head, Nettlepaw took a deep breath before giving a lop-sided smile in anticipation, and calling out to the clan.
“ThunderClan! Uhm.. anyone who.. can hunt.. cmere! Apprentices.. who can’t.. I think you.. can come.. too. You.. could learn a.. thing or two.. here!”

Alright, that would probably be a good starter. Now, for the real meat of the event.
“I’m.. hosting a.. hunting event! I and Dragonflycliff.. will sort.. you all.. into some groups.. and the cats who.. catch the most.. will.. get a prize! Some very.. very nice.. duck feathers, this.. cool shiny rock.. I found..” they paused, before narrowing their eyes while smirking. “And bragging.. rights.” They mewed light-heartedly.

Maybe this would get some more prey on the pile? That would be good.

Alright, so this is just a hunting event I came up with. It’s gonna work by me sorting y’all into groups and then just rolling dice every so often to see if you all catch anything.

The dice rules are as follows:

prey (d5):
1: nothing
2: small mammals; mice, voles, shrews
3: squirrels and birds on the ground, moles
4: squirrels and birds in trees, fish
5: rabbits, hares

hunting (d20):
0-9: fail
10-20: success

purrks affecting the dice
(please include your character’s purrks when posting!)

prey dice
heightened perception (+1), ultimate predator (+1), radiohead (-1), thundering pawsteps (-1), dulled senses (-2)

hunting dice
kitty softpaws (+1), flock together (+1), ultimate predator (+2), two left paws (-1), dulled senses (-3), thundering pawsteps (-2)

Cats with no hunting training have a -4 on all hunting rolls, and cannot roll higher than a 3 on prey rolls.

And yes, the winner gets the prizes mentioned in the IC bit.

RippleCloud heard an apprentice announcing a hunting event. Out of curiosity, He padded outside the warriors den to already see a small-ish group huddled around the young cat standing on a rock, he found this rather interesting and wanted to take part in it.

An apprentice organising an event? Bit unusual. Fernwhisper thought as she moved towards the event organisers. Sitting down Fernwhisper decided that it was at least a useful past time for apprentices.

Mistwhisper glanced up from the flower she was slitting to make a flower crown. She tucked it behind a bush and stood up. *Hm. Might as well... the duck feathers could go well in a crown...* she thought.

She padded over to the apprentice. It /was/ odd that an apprentice was hosting an event... but she'd give it a try.

It felt too relaxed to be hunting today. She wanted challenge. She wanted something good to come for her life. At least hunting would keep her active. She gave a polite nod back in Nettlepaw's direction. She knew they could handle this, but she knew neither of them were in the best state. She missed Vultureeye. Where were her kits? She had missed home, but she didn't miss it in this state. She sat down, awaiting the beginning.

Chasmpaw was near Nettlepaw when they announced that they and Dragonflycliff were going to host a hunting event for the clan. She wasn't sure if she had enough hunting experience and/or training for that matter. Chasmpaw started to consider if she should join the event.

Boulderspots got up from his nest, left the warriors' den, and padded over toward nettlepaw and sat down.

[OOC question: does "no hunting training" include if they were created as a warrior or have never gone on a patrol? If so, Boulderspots would fit in the no hunting training category.]

Hm, a hunting event? Flowerhawk hadn’t been hunting in a little while. It would be nice, plus it would help her Clan out. She joined the group, sitting by herself.

[ @Purely_K2 I think if you created them as a warrior, it’s implied that they did have hunting training ]
