roar of the unknown [open]

Rattling metal had spooked little Rooster further, and the young cat had bolted from the alley in question. They hadn't put much consideration into tracking where they were going - the folly of kittenhood! - and found themselves in yet another unfamiliar spot within the city.

They found themselves crouched beside a gray path, flinching as a giant beast roared past them. They didn't know what that was!!! ... but there was no hide-y hole in sight, so they stayed frozen.

The cat waited, watching cautiously. It knew these creatures were dangerous, so dangerous they could kill a cat in seconds probably, so they had to wait. It didn't particularly want to die, so it waited for an opening, a chance to get across to that... thing. There was DEFINITELY something over there. They completely miscalculated the distance between the next beast and the time they got, so they had to scramble across to make it over safely, but it at least managed that. [1, 17]

Autumn had survived, even with their weird leg. It didn't know how it has done this for so long. But it recognised the figure of a something? as a cat. Right, that makes more sense... "Hello." it meowed at the cat, the cat just sitting at the edge of the monsterplace, "Are ya okay?"

Something approaches...

Rooster shrank back toward one of the walls of the nearby buildings, trying to make themselves invisible. They were lost in a strange place and a stranger threatened them!! (Well, as far as they comprehended.)

In response to Autumn, the tiny cat grrrred. Words weren't their forte; the noises of the beast within felt more comfortable. Though, unbeknownst to them, a kitten growling was far from intimidating.

As it watched the cat move away, it sat still, cautious of spooking the cat any further. Clearly the kit was scared of the monsterpath because it was just sitting there. The attempts from Autumn to assist were not working, and it wasn't very proud of itself for that. At least it had tried, even with the kit growling at it. "I don't want to hurt you.." it meowed softly. Maybe silence would have helped. Autumn was unsure.

The body language of the other cat wasn't as threatening as Rooster first perceived - but they still kept their guard up, uncertain of this stranger. Quill had been their only real exposure to another and he was Gone.

It probably didn't help Rooster caught sight of their leg - they obviously didn't understand WHAT happened to it, but it was weird and furless and they didn't like it. Rooster hissed again, puffing their fur up to make themselves look bigger!!!

Whatever Autumn had done, it didn't mean to do. The kit was clearly not in the mood for it, or maybe the monsterpath was something horrible to it. But whatever it was, Autumn wasn't supposed to be the cause of it. They didn't try talking this time, just looking as nicely as they could at the kit. Autumn was sure it didn't really hate them. Right?

They watched as the kit had hissed at them. It just moved a little bit closer, trying not to look menacing. At all. If it was menacing Autumn was just going to give up on trying to act in any way in the future because clearly trying to show the truth of their feelings was failing.
