Stay? Stay why? He waited. It would be bad to ignore this cat. Oh ok. This cat was... Nice. Maybe he misinterpreted them. They were feeding him something. Maybe it looked a little... not prey-like, but it was something. He smiled. It looked suspiciously bright red. But... this cat helped them. He took it and ate it himself. A bit.. cautiously, self-consciously, infront of their maybe new friend?

he flicked his ear. he thought the cat brought the prey for themself? did they not? cats confuse him. stars above. "lettin' me practice is enough of a payment."

"i'll go get y' somethin' for the pain." he ventured out, looking for a poppy flower, but his eyes were on the ground and he walked right into a wall, his head hurt oh god. scarlet dripped onto the snow. ugh. he trodded back to the barn, no use "'m sorry. i walked into a starsdamned wall."

he waited a moment, and another, before exiting. seems that the berry flesh wasnt the toxic bit. then was the seed toxic? he would let the cat sleep, for tonight. hell, if the cat knew what he was gonna feed him he would very surely make a break for it. he grabbed the branch and kept it out of view of dusk as he brought it along and dropped it into his storage.

he returned the following morning, with a coltsfoot leaf and the deathberry seed. "eat 'em both." he flicked his tail, waiting, watching.

A moment passed and the other cat had walked away. It was getting dark, and Dusk was a little bit tired. Dusk looked at the night one last time before going to sleep. Vanta seemed good intending, clearly he just didn't show it. Right? There was help. He wouldn't be coughing soon enough! Finally, somecat who was NICE. Polite. Maybe he.. maybe he had found a friend. And a herby one too! Maybe he could find the weird herby things. Then he could learn them too!

Dusk knew he was awake, and being.. watched... as he looked up to see Vanta telling him to eat the same weird leaves and some.. seeds? What were those? He was told to eat them. Again. Wow, this cat really wanted to see him eat things. Maybe that was a herbcat thing. Oh well. It was probably about as normal as last time, maybe it was just to make sure he wouldn't get sick again. (Well, technically...)

 

He took them and ate them. And suddenly it all felt.. weird. Was the food bad? Why couldn't he breathe? It was... hurting. He looked cautiously, worriedly at maybe his new herbcat friend. Was the food rotten? Did he do something wrong wh.. en... eating the food? But nothing happened, nice-ish herbcat did nothing, nothing at all.
"h..e.....l..p?" he croaked, giving up, trying to preserve energy, but instead just collapsed. It hurt, he hated it, but then just... nothing. The air lost his voice, and his heart just stopped.
It was over.
But... why?

Oh no, Rosy quickly shook her head, tiny paw lifting to wipe at her face. No, no, no. She wiped her face again then buried it into her papa’s side, still shaking her head. No one made her cry. No one. She just had bad thoughts – she lifted a paw, tapping her head in a slow, repetitive manner when she leaned back to look at him with sea-green eyes. She blinked slowly, then her gaze trailed over to Vanta’s paws.

Rosy’s mouth opened, a breath of air leaving in a soft ohhhh sound, paws quickly having her clamper over Vanta’s side to sit between his paws, snuggling close to his belly fur. She waved her paw, looking at him before turning the torn up fabric’s way, and reaching out to pick it up, looking at it curiously.

She flicked her ear, observing the cat. They didn't want the prey? Hm, not the greedy type. She thought about herself, she would have taken the offer in a heartbeat. "I see, but just know that it's here if you want it." They nodded.
She sat, grooming her fur as she waited for the other to return. Walking back, the cat had left a trail of blood. Ah. "It is fine, You have truly done a lot for me already." She noted. She thought for a moment before asking a question. "How long am I permitted to stay here? I assure you I will be gone within the next half moon, but I would enjoy being able to rest for a moment."

Maplekit hissed angrily as she missed yet another mouse. She simply did not know how to hunt well enough to do anything. Lashing her tail, she decided that, as much as she hated the Starbarn cats for rejecting her, she'd be better off with a queen.
She considered where to go. She had smelled kits on a breeze nearby, perhaps there was a queen? She scented the air, with difficulty seperated the kit smell and stalked off upstream, towards the scent source.
