It was what he learned to do since kithood - be aware. The Dusk Syndicate was a dangerous place, and its members could be terribly effected if they were not always prepared for anything. He's had his fair share of surprises.

``Quit your snorting, and stop glaring - it's rude,`` Augustus commented with a disappointed look. He shook his head to place emphasis on his disappointment, but then he abruptly replaced his negative facial features with gleeful ones. ``And smile more, okay? And your tone - ugh. You always sound irritated, y'know, but we can fix that! Just so you know, your name sorta offers a... creepy air... because... because jinxes are bad luck... But that's okay, because we're in the Dusk Syndicate, and based off stereotypes, we're creepy.``

He often put lots of thought towards the Dusk Syndicate stereotypes, the ones that claimed they were heartless. Augustus, and the other members of the Syndicate were usually judged by their residence, and immediately turned away. This brought much resentment to the tall, rat-tailed tomcat, resentment he always showed, but in ways totally unusual to most. He dreamed of being accepted, but he knew it wouldn't happen due to his loyalties. And not many Dusk Syndicate cats were accepting. In general, Augustus was all on his own, and he was an incredibly social cat, so he struggled to adjust to the antisocial life. Anyway... Dusk Syndicate stereotypes claimed its members were heartless, and Augustus was determined to prove otherwise. However, during his time with the Syndicate, he slowly and unknowingly became slightly insane, but he continued to dream of proving the stereotypes to be incorrect. His insanity and dreams seemed to of been blended together, and his insanity was cheerfulness. It was rare for others to assign him the mental condition of `insane` as he managed to hide it beneath naive, kit-like happiness.

Augustus didn't think he was crazy - he had convinced himself he was simply a happy cat, and maybe that was the case? In all, insanity was, well, insane, and complicated, and could not be understood quickly. His brother had managed to help maintain a balance of sanity and insanity in Augustus, but then his only sibling went missing... and everything went downhill.
Just to make Augustus mad, Jinx snorted at his comment. "Don't tell me what to do," she responded bitterly. Her fuse was growing short, meaning that her temper was simply going to get worse and worse unless this feline took her back to camp. It'd been a long day already and for some reason this interaction seemed to be dragging on a lifetime. Jinx was over it and she was over his cocky attitude. Only once had she noticed he slipped up enough to draw her attention back towards him, but once he recovered, she grew bored. "You cannot alter who I am and I suggest you quit trying. I'm not trying to control how cocky you are and how clumsy you appear to be with your ratty appearance," she spoke, rolling her hues and standing up.

Jinx was starting to grow antsy. It was obvious. Whatever this cat was doing, it was driving her nuts. She had to start pacing just to keep her temper down. The ebony she-cat didn't pace more than two lengths from him though, in case he tried to pull some kittish move and bolt. He could outrun her easy with his long-limbs. Her more bulky structure prevented her from reaching quick speeds, however her fighting skills was there to make up for the disadvantage. She continued to pace. Clearly growing more and more frustrated with each moment passing.

However much Jinx didn't want to respond to his last comment about her name, she did anyways. "And just so you know, I was given the prefix, Jinx, before I joined this hellhole," she paused, even stopping her pacing for a moment to look towards him, an almost challenging tone to her hues. "I gladly live up to it's meaning though, nothing you say or do will change that," she spoke. It was Jinx's turn to try and drive this cat over the edge. It was the only thing keeping her from giving him a good swipe over the nose. She'd regret that and she knew it, so she was doing everything in her will to avoid that.

Augustus liked a challenge, and that was exactly what Jinx was to him - a challenge. He'd handled a feline similar to the she-cat pacing angrily before him. Eventually, they had both irritated each other to the point where a physical fight nearly broke out. Yes, it's possible, ladies and gentlemen, Augustus can be angered. Though it takes a lot to get on the nerves of the skinny tom...

He faked offense when she insulted his appearance. Augustus leaned back, his mouth gaping and his eyes narrowed. He simply scoffed and shook his head. But then he returned to standing normally - tall and proud. When she finally finished talking, he released a low groan, flicked his tail-tip, and rolled his eyes. ``First of all,`` He stated firmly, ``I am not ratty - well, maybe. Second, whoa, chill... I was only offering suggestions!`` Now, both Jinx and Augustus were playing a game. A game to see who breaks first.

Of course, being the cocky tomcat he is, Augustus was positive he would win. After all, he already is. He knew Jinx was frustrated with him, and he liked that. He enjoyed causing annoyance. Meanwhile, his irritation level was lower than low. In able to do what he does - irritate others - he must be incredibly patient, and he is. Good luck, Jinx!

She just wished that one day she could learn something different. And unfortunately for Forest, her killing days were not over, and she was not in the least expected the sight that awaited her through a pair of holly bushes.

Forest was met by the site of her formidable trainer hold just one cat in his jaws. At first she was feeling better. Only one more life to be taken. That was until she smelled the scent of the cat, the fur color, the eyes, the scared expression. The smell of Windclan radiated off of the small she cat who looked about the same age as her. No, this cat was exactly the same age as her. They were born in the same nest, on the same day, in the same litter. This was none other than her sister Brindlepaw standing before her, out on the slaughter list that Broken had made up. She took a step back, appalled by the sight. She couldn't do this, she wouldn't. Even though this was the sister that had betrayed her and her family, they were still blood related, and plus, she felt closest to Brindle. It was the closest thing she had come to in a normal family relationship. "I-I Broken I can't kill her she's my si-" and Broken had let go, Brindle had ran off. The Ebony she cat did not finish her sentence, knowing that would make matters worse. I have to catch her, and let her know I'm not going to kill her, without letting Broken know. she thought hurriedly. Thinking fast she forced her paws to move, tearing off after the rustling undergrowth as she hunted her sister. What would she do when she caught her? She couldn't kill her, and she knew that if she couldn't kill Brindle, then Broken most certainly would. She had seen him do it before. She had to get them out of this safely.

"...Leave me alone!" Brindlepaw screeched, her claws unsheathing and digging into the ground under her paws, trying to get away as quickly as she could. Her eyes were bright with anger, and the thought of having been betrayed like this, by her own sister. I trusted you! I trusted you, and you let him steal me from my home, all the way back here, where this... demon resides? A chill blew up her spine as she merely thought about Singenight- a murderer who she'd spent her entire life trying to get away from, to make herself seen as a kinder, more benevolent cat than her father would ever be. She despised him, and though she'd thought her sister was different, it seemed like that wouldn't be the case. "I thought that you were my sister! That you were the only cat in our terrible family who really cared about me, that you were different from everyone else! You're no different from your mother and your father, and you're not my sister!" She screeched, her voice hoarse as she came to a sudden stop, her breath heaving as her fur bristled in anger, in distrust. "You took me from the only thing that I've wanted to be with- my clan- just so you could kill me! You're a murderer, and I can't trust you anymore than I can trust the rest of this family, who has left me for dead all of these moons!"

The words....the words that her sister was screeching at her...they hurt. All her life she had wanted to be like her father, but not the murderous part. She wanted to be successful, to lead, to be respected and feared. She wanted to be powerful, she wanted a purpose, not just go through the motions as another fighter. She wanted to be more than just normal. She didn't want to kill, but she did. She did because she needed respect from Broken. She wanted to earn Brokens trust, that's why she did it. She didn't know that he would take Brindlepaw. "Brindlepaw! Wait it's...it's not like that!" She called ahead, pumping her legs, forcing them to move faster. She had to catch up. She had to explain. Then she nearly ran into her as she stopped. "Brindle, I swear it's really not like this. I do not want to kill you. I didn't tell Broken to go out and get you. I do not want to hurt you, much less kill you." Then her sister did the unmentionable. She called her a murderer. After getting worked up, think that her sister hated her, despised her, this was the last straw. Her black head drooped and her pale green eyes filled with tears. "Brindlepaw..I'm sorry...I-I didn't want this to happen. I don't want to be a murderer. And please..don't call me like dad. I know...I know I've said I want to be like him, but not the murderous part. I want to be successful. I want to be more than just a member of the Syndicate. I want to have a purpose. I don't want to be a murder, but Broken makes me. I need his respect if I'm to move up here. I had to kill them. I never enjoyed it. It never made me feel more secure of my position. It never felt like something that will be necessary. I hate it. But I have to. I don't want to die." She looked back up, her eyes watery and tears lines ran down her cheek. Her eyes held a look of defeat and sorrow. She raised her paw and pointed to her cheek, where claw mark scars were visible. "That was from my first ever training session, when I failed to kill the cats. If I mess up, it costs me my life as well. And I'm sorry sister, but I choose my life over the ones I don't know. But I know you. Even if we're separated by allegiances, we're still family. I still care for you. I don't want you to die. But I don't want to die either. We have to go, but only if you say I can come with you." She finished, her voice tinged with a flicker of hope; hope that her sister would see the full situation and allow her to go with her. "Brindle, this is worse here. I thought it would be fine because of Dad, but it almost makes it worse. Everyone expects me to be as kill ready as he was. But if I go back after letting you go, I won't get to see you again, or if I do, it'll be Broken coming back to kill you himself."

@Lawlipop

The small calico siberan apprentice crept through the white ridden wasteland. His breath came out in clouds of mist as his gaze danced about as if he was on a look out for something. His ears perked as he listen for anything to come by. The only sounds that sung to his ears were that of distance prey calls and his own beating heart. He was currently in pursuit of meeting some mystery cat he had met not too long ago. The only problem he currently faced was that he was on the other side of the border. Knowing well enough of what certain punishment he could possibly receive if he were caught in such acts. Giving his head a toss from either sighed he began to lower himself down. When the moment was deemed the perfect chance to push forward he slowly began to do so. Flinching at any crunching sound his footfalls could have made in his attempts. It wasn't long until he found his way well past the border did he glance back to see if anyone saw or should have easily followed. Sighing in utter relief he pushed back into a seated position. All he had to do was wait for his friend to show up then he could go home pretending that none of this ever happened. His blue gaze began to take notice of his current surroundings in his way of passing the time.

Shuffling through his territory of his dark home, a massive tom cat that went by the name of Nero resided. Not only was he big, but his pelt made him look absolutely gorgeous. His pale orange fur, his long luscious hairs, his chilling but beautiful eyes, all of it made him truly stunning. If only he was a bit nicer. He was always seen with a stern face, today was no exception. Some say the last time he ever seemed to smile was when he was still a young trainee beside his mother. He was a brute, a power hungry one at that who wasn't afraid of getting his claws dirty with blood anymore. He has brought himself into the territory today to see if he can make his paws dirtier than they already were. Was he going to just walk up to a cat and kill them? No, despite having cravings for blood and power, he was law abiding cat who allows the Dusk Syndicate code to justify the blood he spills. His orange shift side to side, looking for any movement. Sometimes on his searches, he will see movement, but will see it is only small prey and leaves it be. Nearby, he hears rustling which causes him to snap his neck toward the direction of the sound. His nose smells traces of a cat. It didn't smell of Syndicate. He growls to himself in excitement and satisfaction. He found his target for the day.

The tom was getting slightly impatient with this so called meeting. Shuffling his paws with ease a yawn escaped his parted jaw as he settled back down into more comfortable position for the waiting game. Because of his current state he had slowly started to drift off into a light slumber,his whisker twitching in the cold breeze that shuffled on by. His ears began to twitch and flicker as he tried his best to keep an ear out for his friend or even for some sort of stranger. He could have just fallen asleep if it wasn't for the rustling sound that wasn't to far from where he had resided. Lifting his head in hesitation he began to scan the surround area seeing if he could find any sign of cat. He wasn't sure if he should just run off or to simply see if it was just a mire prey. He had to be ready for anything that may come his way.

Nero didn't run towards the sound, he merely stalked towards it, allowing the brush to quiet shake, non-verbally warning the area of his presence. His ears pricked at the sound of a yawn nearby him, his eyes turning to slits in satisfaction over it. The sound and smell seemed to all be in the same place. His tail would twitch out of excitement, causing it to make a swishing sound and he would have to cease. He was only a few foxtails away from his prey. The cat he has been stalking appeared to be of young age. Nero has killed many cats around his age before, so he no longer has much remorse to killing a cat so young, so in their prime. This is what happens when you don't follow the code... Finally, the shuffling in the vegetation decided to show itself. It wasn't a harmless little bird or mouse. It was a towering pale ginger tom.
