Another sob wracked her body as the other approached her, quickly checking her over. Covered in mud, shaking from the cold and pelting rain; It was no secret that Cedartuft was miserable. Although, the reassurance of having her son near-by did help to improve her mood, the adrenaline was still coursing through her paws, alerting her to get out, to escape, but she knew she had to make sure the rest of her family was safe. "I'm alright, I'm alright." Her voice was wavering as she pressed herself against Honeythistle, the rain continuing to pour down around them. Her head was swiveling rapidly around as she tried to catch glimpse of any more family. Jumping slightly as a large crack of lightning lit up the sky, the molly slipped closer towards Honeythistle. It was difficult to hear him, due to the pounding of the rain and screeches filling the clearing, but Cedartuft was able to process what he told her. High ground, Mothflower and her kits. Thank Starclan. Although it seemed petty to have such a thought during such a devastating catastrophe, the senior queen couldn't help but be relieved to hear Mothflower's name. Out of all her sons mates, Mothflower was definitely her favorite and the presence of the other queen would help calm her. Not to mention, having her grandchildren around would also help her feel much better. Taking care of them would take the focus off of herself. She knew her son had seen her frail frame, something she desperately tried to hide from even her mate, but again, all that mattered now was survival.

"Have you seen anyone else? Your father? Brothers? Sisters?" Clinging to the other and entwining her tail with her kit's, Cedartuft slowly lead the other forward, more confident in her steps. They were basically swimming across the rest of the clearing, the water rising around their ankles. The queen cast her gaze downwards as an assault of stinging rain pelted them. It was unrelenting and painful, but only lasted for a second. What had they done to make Starclan so mad? She winced quietly, lifting her head back up to continue their trudge towards the small group. It seemed so far away. So much energy to exert for such a little distance.

"I don't think I'll make it!" She cried out, slowing down significantly than her original pace. It was an empty threat and the maine-coon did continue to climb, but damn was it a struggle. She was caked with mud by the time they made, her breath coming heavy and strained. Her lungs were bursting, they felt as if the were on fire, but at least she had some inkling of safety as mother and son made it. Taking a deep long breath, Cedartuft stumbled away from Honeythistle and over next to Mothflower, crumpling to the ground like a wet piece of paper. Spitting a mouthful of mud, she lifted her face up to the sky, letting the liquid slowly begin to wash away the gooey substance.
Twilightkit mewled, her paws wriggling as she heard someone knew approach. Her eyes were sealed shut, her fur was still soaked and weighing her down. The diluted calico couldn't even tell who it was, the rain drowning out the new cats scent. Twilightkit hated all of what little she knew was happening. The rain, the cold, the mud. Twitching her tiny whiskers and flicking little raindrops off them, she remained silent. She found no use in wailing out.

@The Little Robin
[such a strong bab ;-;]

Lionpaw quickened his pace as well, rushing to catch up with Newtpaw. He was silent as he moved alongside her, keeping so his word so far as he made sure to stay near. He planned to keep his word as well. The golden brown tom promised both Newtpaw and himself that he would stay at her side for a long as she needed, and he didn't break promises. Newtpaw needed someone right now, and Lionpaw planned to be that someone. He would always be there for her when she needed him. She was his best friend, and he was hers; and that's what best friends do. They're there for each other.

@Stormfeather {Foxxi}
[Although I've already started an rp with Bear and one of his other potential love interests, I can duplicate him!]

His belly fur being weighed down by the water, Bearblaze was on his feet immediately. "Let's go!" he exclaimed, beginning to make his way toward the entrance. After a few steps, though, he looked back at Fallenfeather to make sure she was coming. There was no way he'd just rush off without her. His fluffy fur was soaked from his stomach down, and it was weighing him down quite a bit slowing his movements.

[posts should get longer after this - writer's block!]

Amberstorm curled her tail around the kits as Whitestep began her upward climb, watching to make sure the she-cat wouldn't lose her grip on the rain-slicked slope. She bristled as thunder boomed overhead and instinctively crouched over Willowkit and Berrykit, glancing warily at the sky. In reply to Whitestep's question, Amberstorm meowed, "Of course! In fact, I think I'll head up there now, too." She bent down and whispered, "Berrykit, Willowkit, I'm going to carry you up now, okay? Just sit still and everything's going to be okay." With that, the tortoiseshell scooped the kits up by their scruffs and dashed up the hill a bit. About halfway to Whitestep the path grew muddier, which slowed Amberstorm down considerably, but she still marched onward.

Berrykit and Willowkit nodded in reply, too stunned to speak, and allowed themselves to be carried.
Whitestep arrived at the top, despite a few slips, and sat her kits down. "Stay here," she told them gently. Trotting downhill to Amberstorm, she laid her tail tip on her shoulder. "Let me take one," she offered. "You can move quicker that way."

No cat had heard his shrieks for help, nobody was coming to his rescue, he was alone and close to death itself - closer than he had ever been before in his entire life. He could feel the heavy rocks pressed against his hind leg, keeping him from escaping this nightmare and getting air. The brown-furred warrior could feel the exhaustion in his body slowly taking over, everything ever so slowly becoming less of a struggle as the tom-cat came close to accepting his fate now. Pinewhisker knew nothing about death and how it felt to go out this way, even fear had left him and now he was just here, unable to break free from all that held him down. He thought to himself, why does he try to escape now? This young warrior had no friends or family left to run to, only a clan that was practically gone from sight by now. He saw how horrific this place had appeared to them and he knew cats were quick to escape without even thinking of helping. Pinewhisker slowly closed his eyes, letting his body relax where it was now. There was hope though, Needlescar had persuaded him to stay and help the terrified cats and in doing so, he rescued Bumbledawn.

“Needlescar.” The name of the she-cat he had met only recently and her words whispered through his ears. “Okay.. Be careful.. I don’t want this to be the last time either..” The young tom-cat could still feel her warm fur as she nuzzled him before he raced off to save Bumbledawn. He wanted to see her again, knowing that she cared for him even though they had only met this morning during his hunt. They seemed to share a connection like any other and Pinewhisker knew that he would fail her now, knowing that there was no way out of this for him. Then, at that moment, all the memories seemed to flash before his eyes, seeing his family be taken by the flames of the forest, unable for him to save them. His eyes sprang open, the amber-hued coloring seeming to shine in the darkened water. He couldn’t stand to fail her too, like his family - no. No, this would not be how he went to the stars. Not yet, not now.

Immediate adrenaline coursed through his body and he began to thrash wildly, kicking his stuck hind leg and hissing in pain as the rocks dug into his flesh. He repeated to himself her name over and over again, fighting for this she-cat that he barely knew, but he knew that she needed him, she was the only one he had left now. He couldn’t do this to her, he knew the feeling of loss too well by now. Pinewhisker uttered a scream of muffled pain as he ripped his leg from it’s confines, the water turning red around it as he immediately swam upwards. The tom-cat’s head broke through the surface and he gasped for breath, sudden light coming into his widened eyes as he seemed to be freed from death itself. This moment of freedom was, however, broken quickly as he was swiftly carried down the current, but the warrior growled and forced himself against the water, his front paws coming out of the water and sinking into the wall of mud that lead to the dampened grass surface. He heaved himself up, hissing in pain with each go and Pinewhisker never stopped. He never did. Each heave of his bleeding, weakened body made him want to yowl out in pain, but there was time for that. Paw after paw, sinking into the mud as he climbed up the breaking wall of earth, but soon, his claws sank into the green grass and with a finally huff of breath, the male threw himself up and over into the grass, collapsing on his side. Low, deepened breaths came from the male for a moment as he laid there, but he was far from giving up now. The smell of blood flooded his senses and saw the gaping wound in his leg, bleeding from the jagged rocks.

This would have to be tended to later though, Pinewhisker needed to find Needlescar and make sure she was safe, he didn’t care about his injury anymore. There were more important matters at paw here and the brown-furred tom lifted himself to his paws, standing on three legs as he didn’t put weight on his injury. He overlooked the camp, seeing cats still fighting for dear life and he could only hope that she wasn’t one of them. He sucked in a breath and called out for the smaller she-cat. “Needlescar!” Pinewhisker shouted, looking for her.
Needlescar was tired and cold. Her fur was weighed down with water and covered in mud, and her limbs ached from the amount of swimming she was doing. She wasn't used to swimming at all! She mustered the strength she could, chest heaving as she panted and tried to find somewhere remotely dry to rest for just a moment. Waves lapped at her chin as she jutted her head up to keep it from going under the murky water. She took a deep breath, diving under to try and find anyone in need of help. She pulled up quickly and gasped, unused to the feeling of going under as she coughed up a bit of dirt. She'd rescued one cat, which was an accomplishment for the she-cat. She, of all cats, had saved a life. Water still dragged her down, and her lungs burned as she tried to reach a little patch of dirt. She reminded herself of Pinewhisker's words, but they were pushed to the back of her mind. Who would care if she just.. stopped? She had no family, friends, mate. Her Clan was gone, and exhaustion was setting in. She pushed against the cold. She slowly fell under the waves, but gasped and pulled herself up. She felt frozen, the shore seemed so.. far. Her fur was pulling her down, almost willing her to give up. Pinewhisker she thought, reaching a little patch of shallow water as she stood and pulled herself from the waves for a second.

"P-Pinewhisker..?" she gasped, her voice hoarse and rasping in her throat, stinging and rough. She'd met him only today, but.. he was special. She didn't want to leave him just yet, and she dove into the water with a shiver. Warmth seeped from her muscles, and she closed her eyes tightly. She wanted to live, this wasn't how she'd go to StarClan. Kicking her legs, she managed to swim a bit further, trying to find the tom. Her heartbeat grew faster as she didn't, but she reassured herself he was probably fine and she was worrying over nothing. The temptation to stop kicking was at the back of her mind still, but she tried to ignore it. She kept her head jutted up, avoiding going under and risking drowning. Her eyes slowly peeled open, and she winced as rain splattered onto her face. This stupid rain. That's what caused this, all this rain! Silently cursing the storm, she stayed in one spot for a moment, ears pinning back.

Needlescar was becoming more tired and cold with every second she remained in the water, ocassionally dipping underneath the water and coming back up spluttering and gasping for air. She tried to keep swimming, trying to find anyone to save. She didn't see anyone, but she wasn't sure what direction she needed to swim or if she could make it if it was far. She whimpered softly, her paws thrashing underwater as she tried to stay afloat. She didn't have anyone around to help her if she couldn't get up next time, and she struggled desperately. She saw rocks, but they were too small to climb upon and rest. She couldn't see anywhere to go, it was just ruined den materials and muddy water. Her eyes were slowly closing, her tail swaying in the water limply. The current was the only thing moving her besides her legs, which were moving in the water slowly. Needlescar tried to spot Pinewhisker, but failed as she sighed and drooped her ears. She bit her lip, and her paws thrashed quicker. She couldn't grab any stable land to sink her claws into. Sighing, Needlescar shivered violently from the cold seeping into her fur. She smelled faint blood in the air, but tried to ignore it as much as she could. She sunk her claws, barely, into some mud. Unable to pull herself fully up, she tried to cling but slowly drifted off. She saw grass, but she didn't know how to reach it.

She didn't know where Pinewhisker was, that was on her mind. Was he safe, out of the water? She wanted to make sure, and she spotted a flash of what looked like his pelt. She blinked and tried to stay near the shore, her eyes softly beginning to close. Was he hurt? She was scared of that, if he got hurt because of her weakness. She scanned the grass, seeing his face. Hope sparked in her as she pulled herself onto the shore, seeing she'd gotten a few cuts and bruises, but nothing much. She felt numb, cold and numb and tired. "Pinewhisker?" She asked, her voice decently loud as she looked up at him.

((Again, it's fine~))

Amberstorm nodded and gently released the kits, then quickly picked Willowkit back up. With just Willowkit, Amberstorm was able to clime the rise a little bit quicker, until she finally made it to the top. She glanced around for some dry spot to put the kit. It wasn't long before she found a hollow log nearby. Of course, it would be a little damp as the walls weren't very thick, but it was the best place to keep the kits safe for now. She made a nodding gesture at the log to Owlkit and Hollykit, then proceeded to carry Willowkit over there, depositing the tiny bundle inside.

Ashpaw! Ambercrackle!" she called, hoping they could hear her over the storm. Her voice was straining, but she refused to give up on her mate and kits. "Quietdance, Creampaw, Ashpaw, Ambercrackle!" she called again. She kept calling their names, glancing around in-between and searching for her family. They had to be okay. Feathermist wouldn't forgive herself if anything happened to them.

Quietdance watched as his son's headed off towards higher ground, then he paddled his way until he could find his mate. He was desperately praying to Starclan that she and their unborn kits would be alright. His nose twitched, the wetness getting to him. He was not as young as he used to do, and he was exhausted by how much he had to move, but he continued on, knowing he...wait! Was that? "Feathermist!" He shouted, and swam padded briskly towards the sound of her voice. He searched everywhere, but the rain was hard to see in, but it didn't stop him until he was near her. Once he reached her, the tom took heavy breaths. "Feathermist..." His voice trailed off, as he rubbed her cheek for a moment, relieved that she was unharmed, but the water was still building up, and he needed to get her out of there. But, what about his daughter? Was she safe as well? "We need to get you to higher ground. Creampaw and Ashpaw made it. You need to get up there with them." He told her, sternly. "I'll stay behind and look for Ambercrackle."

She walked on to find the rest of her clan and her family until she saw it... him. He looked like a blazing fire in the storm she was in. Her heart stopped like it used to a few to many moons ago. She must have been really tired because she didn't believe her eyes. However, she knew he was real somewhere in her heart... She knew he was really there. Why was he there anyway? He had left her long ago with a broken heart and hatred... no not hatred. The apprentice could never hate Tigerpaw. It was more like a bitter disappointment. Yes... disappointment. Desertpaw blinked her hazel eyes as she began to walk slowly to him. "You shouldn't be here," she said in a voice that held pain and a slight hiss of anger. How dare he show his face to her again! However, she was a bit happy and relieved to see him. He looked well. He had grown into a fine... warrior? He should become one soon at least. Last time she checked they were the same age or near the same age. Desertpaw waved her drenched tail back and forth as she looked over the now more muscular Tigerpaw she had known just a few moons ago. He had grown well, and she had to admit he was a bit easy on the eyes, but then she stopped those thoughts as she remembered her scarred face. Desertpaw would not let that get her down because it ruined her beauty in some cats eyes... no she let it get her down because it was a painful and physical reminder of the day tigerpaw had left her.... alone.
Tigerpaw looked down. The flood was getting worse, rising and taking the cats like it was a plague. He was happy to have been on solid ground, but he was worried that one feline as still there, falling, possibly dead. And, he never got a chance to apologize to her. Tigerpaw wanted to call out her name, but he was still in shock. He couldn't say anything. The tom felt numb, lost of all feeling. He bent his head down to look at the desperate cats as they fled, and he wondered where they could be heading off too. If the forest didn't have four clans...then why have the four great oak trees? Then again, maybe Skyclan would make up for the disheveled Shadowclan. The funny part about that was the fact how the tom thought it was his future clan. He thought he would had asked Desertpaw to be his mate, and they'd be happy together, but reality had a way of changing things and life had a way of destroying matters. "All I just want is for her to be safe." He whispered to himself, heaving in a sigh. But as soon as he did, he heard another voice. An all too familiar voice. The tom felt himself go tense, and slowly he turned behind him--and, there she was. Desertpaw. He had flinched when he saw her scarred face. He had winced at her hurt words. "I-I-um...just...I-I-" he didn't know what to say to her. So instead, he almost blinded towards her, enveloping her in a nuzzle--but he stopped himself. Maybe she was still mad at him. Maybe she hated him. This made him flatten his ears to his head. He knew he shouldn't have been there, but it was a compete accident. He wanted to check out the borders, see if he could see her. He didn't think the weather would become so bad that Shadowclan was ruined of their home. "I know I shouldn't be here..." He trailed off, his eyes hoping to find her. They both were older now, soon becoming warriors, and she was still absolutely beautiful to him. Oh, how he missed her! "I just...I don't know why I'm here...m-maybe...I should leave." He says, bringing his head down, his fur drenched from the drizzle of the rain. He knew he should had left, but he didn't want to leave. And maybe--just maybe, she didn't want that either.

Hope sparked in her as she pulled herself onto the shore, seeing she'd gotten a few cuts and bruises, but nothing much. She felt numb, cold and numb and tired. "Pinewhisker?" She asked, her voice decently loud as she looked up at him.
“Needlescar..” Her name left his parted jaws when he saw her, his eyes widening as he was overjoyed and relieved to see that she was alive. The small she-cat was on the shoreline and far from drowning in the cold flood waters. Pinewhisker wasted no time, hearing her say his name as he ran over to her, but it was more like fast limping with his badly injured hind leg and with the shock that seemed to linger in his system. The lean male went to her side, burying his muzzle in her neck gently, a pained smile on his maw. “Thank Starclan.. You’re alive, you are alive!” Pinewhisker knew he was overacting perhaps just a bit, but he didn’t care, “I’m so glad that I could see you again, if only it was in better circumstances.” The warrior sniffed at her pelt, inspecting the she-cat thoroughly and seeing some cuts with some bruising here and there, but compared to him, Needlescar was in much better conditions.

However, he noticed her shaking tone and her freezing pelt as he laid beside the she-cat, both of them were drenched with filthy flood water and practically half-drowned from this madness since they had returned to camp. “I.. I’ll keep you warm, if that’s okay..” Even though Pinewhisker cared for her, they had only met today and he needed to respect boundaries. He was no stingy tom-cat and was quite the gentleman when it came to that, but the warrior just wanted her to be safe and well taken care of. Pinewhisker glanced at his hind leg, stained with reddened blood, but he would pull through - what mattered now was her and only her, in his mind. The tom-cat glanced towards the forest, wondering if the fleeing clan was even in their land anymore or too far gone already to even catch up with at this point. He shook his head though, not worrying about that now. “Let’s just rest here for now..”
