Default Re: Wandering Kit!

fish began to mewl loudly finally hearing a female cat and having the inborn instinct to seek them for comfort and food. His mother had had other female cats watch them whenever she had to leave the nest. Still hiding under the tom, he's pop his head out, ears sticking up towards the sound of the voice. Unfurling a bit he began to feel safer, maybe this cat new his Mama. Maybe she's seen her.

"I'm over here!" , he called out loudly, not knowing exactly how far she was.

The tom's eyes widened as the kit huddled close, though he didn't move. The poor thing was probably freezing at this point. With a soft exhale, he made sure not to move, almost as if he were shielding the kit from the cruel world surrounding them. The soft grumbling of the tiny kit's belly sent waves of sympathy through the rugged loner, and his face twisted into one of worry again. The sound wouldn't be so painful to listen to if they both weren't silent... he was glad when the kit spoke up once more.
"Fish? That's a nice name," the tom meowed in a reassuring tone, trying to comfort the kit that had nestled by his belly. "Call me Silver. It's what I've called myself these past moons." the tom chuckled, nudging the kit with a paw. "I've never met a white fish before." being lighthearted was more natural to him, and now that the kit had warmed up to him, he allowed his social side to come out once more. "Your mama's probably out there somewhere." he doubted it, though what could he say to the kit? He'd probably be heartbroken if he knew. "I think you need to worry about yourself first. That sounded like a mighty growl." the tom chuckled as he gestured at the kit's stomach. "Maybe you'd like to come hunting with me? I could teach you how to catch your own food."

The tinkling of a bell interrupted his sentence, the cry of a she-cat, too. Who was that? the kit was calling out to her, it seemed... Was she the mother? "Who's out there?" the tom called out to the noise, scenting at the air. She carried the scent of house life, it seemed. What was a cat like that doing around these parts?

Fish turned back to stare wide eyed at silver and began to burn a bit. He still kept another ear out for the she cat he had heard, but being so small he also had a kits attention span. But he was purring loudly now at Silvers joking, and it seemed to distract him for a moment.

" My mama named me fish because she said when I wasn't wanting milk that is all I wanted her to get,"

His ears and tail dropped and he seemed to curl back inside himself, his smile and purr retreated.

"What if thats why mama left me...I don't know how to hunt for myself, mama said I'm too little. She said I still needed milk whenever I didn't eat big food....I'm so scared out here....

The feline was surprised when she heard to replies almost backed up on each other. The kitten seemed all to excited to have heard her voice, perhaps that wasn't a good thing. Than another voice, it was tough and hardened. The toms voice. Frost followed her instincts of being a she cat and approched the meow of the kit. The jangling of her collar as she trotted forward gave away her position. Stupid bell. she thought with frustration. When she finally reached the clear the first thing she spotted a stone grey Tom and next a small muddy kit curled into the toms forepaws and pressed into his belly. Her ears angled at both of them. Neither looked like each other which lead her to believe the Tom wasn't his father. Nor did they look like they had any distant relations. She stiffened at the sight of the kitten and took a few pawsteps ahead. Almost ignoring the Tom completely. Than when she had finally clicked back into reality she looked back at the Tom. Eyebrows knit thoughtfully together. "The names frost" she meows. She hadn't seemed to really take her Attenion off the kit, only for a few split seconds to free the Tom a quizzical glare. "Are you the kits father?" she questioned. The kitten looked terrible. Muddy and it looked as if it had been abandon for at least a few hours. If this was father she had a few words she would like to express to him. When the kitten spoke again she quickly picked up on his name, her ears drooped and instantly her heart melted. The poor thing has no mother? What two faced Molly would do such a thing to such a Cute little kitten? she want quite sure what to do now. She came here just to inspect, not to get tangled up in this mess. But now she seemed drawn to the small kitten and the gentle Tom cat. She had never seen a. Tom so gentle with a kit that wasn't his own. She furrowed her eyebrows nervously. She wasn't exactly comfortable with the situation at paw.

"So you like eating fish, huh? I haven't caught one of those in a while..." the tom was still cautious of the approaching jingles and meows, though he wasn't frightened. A cat with a collar was usually never the type to confront a forest cat, though he must've looked suspicious with a weak kit bundled at his paws. Listening to the kit's words, the tom looked down at the bundle of clumped up and muddied fur, ears pressed back against his head. "No, I don't think that would be it..." he nudged at the kit with his muzzle, pulling his head back into position soon after to gaze at the source of the jingling. "I'm sure she's searching for you, you know... You just have to stay strong in the meantime." his attention was shifting inadvertently, back at the kit, back to the jingling collar. It was a lot to handle, especially since he hadn't interacted with other cats in a while.
The appearance of the she-cat startled him, even though he could hear he coming the whole way. She definitely wasn't hunting out here... he glanced at the she-cat, his own eyes narrowed in apprehension. She didn't seem to have any ill intent, not with a greeting such as hers. "...Silver. Name's Silver." he decided to reciprocate. Maybe this house cat could help him find the mother. He found her tone quite accusatory as she continued, and he couldn't help but feel offended. "The kit's not mine. I found him like this. He's lost his mother." short and simple. He didn't need to go any further, at least not until he knew she intended to help him.

fish looked back and forth at both cats, stepping toward the female but then back toward the tom. Doing this back and forth then deciding to just sit down between the two and begin a small mewling cry. He had no idea what to do and he was so cold and hungry it hurt. The mud on his fur was uncomfortable and weighed him down, his strength being zapped along with the heat from his body. he was so young he could barely clean himself. And in his poor little mind he was abandoned and surrounded by strangers, as nice as they might be and it was a lot to handle. He couldn't keep track of it all and the little kits head started to weigh down and his eyes felt heavy.

"I like Fish.I'm sleepy,cold,and hungry...even my fur feels sleepy.."

And with that the kit began to nod off falling over on his side.

setting aside her concerns for silver frost padded forward to embrace the kit. It's frustration was clear and obvious as daylight. Not only that but it was starved and oblivious to the much bigger problems ahead. But before she could embrace fish the kit fell silent and she gently wrapped her large fluffy tail around him. Than a few seconds later she bent over, cradled him in her paws and began to groom fish. Sure it tasted horrifying and dry but the kitten could contract bad things from... Whatever the substance happened to be. As she continued grooming fish delicately she caught sight of silver and rasised her head a moment later, fixing a frosty glare on the tom. She raised her chin up at him disapprovingly, though she admired wild cats such as this primal feline she couldn't stand to think one could be as cruel as he. Sure they hD no relations but you didn't seek out to feed the poor thing. Her ears flattened against her head, "Do you mind hunting or something? I can feel his ribs right through his skin. Or are you just going to stare?" spat the barn cat hastily. If anything needed to be done around here, a meal was in order. Than she once again ignored the tom and began rasping her pink tongue over the small kitten in long soft strokes. Cleansing fish of residue and dirt, soon the kit was clean and remarkably still slumbering between her paws. First cranes her neck and nuzzled the kits forehead with her chin. Despite her arrogant and hostile nature the barn cat was quite fit for motherhood, the only lacking factor was kittens. The only explanation for her sudden interest in fish, though she would be sure to remind herself there would come a time when they would part. "Ok, I'm sorry for being hostile. But. You've been here for what? An hour and all you've thought to do was talk? The poor things been abandon, it needs a good meal and a shelter" frost snorted. He's truly ridiculous, toms aren't fit for caring for kittens. Getting to her paws and shaking her long white fur in hopes of ridding it if dust. Than she nabbed fishes scruff hauled him over to the corner of the clearing where she set him down and raked at clumps of moss hidden beneath a log, pulling it into a makeshift nest. "are you staying with him during the night?" she meows. He had somewhat of a say in this. He found the kit, Wether or not he wanted to be involved was the true question though.

Silver had noticed the control that the she-cat now had on the situation, the sudden action she took unexpected to him in the least. What was Frost doing? This seemed unusual to him, and he watched out of pure curiosity as to the she-cat's actions. Her sudden "taking" of the kit was confusing enough, but that disapproving glare caught him off-guard, as well. What had he done wrong, now? The tom's eyes narrowed in the slightest, unable but help to pull a face in frustration. He hadn't met with another grown cat in moons, and this was what he had to deal with? A judgemental pet, who thought he was of no help to the kit once nestled between his paws.
Her statement seemed to jolt him back to reality, reminding him of his previous thoughts. The kitten was thin, of course, but he didn't exactly want to hunt before... Leaving the starving kit alone and hungry seemed twice as dangerous as leaving him alone to hunt, though that was before another cat had entered the scene. Silver still didn't trust this individual, though. If one mother could abandon a kit, he wouldn't be surprised if Frost could, too. He could already see the magnitude of arguments they'd have in future if he was snappy back.
He snorted softly at her apology, not taking it seriously as she managed to ruin it by continuing to talk. "In case you haven't noticed, Frost, that kit's been alone this whole time. Did you want me to leave a kit on its own?" he already began to pad away, tail twitching behind him. "And now you're asking if I'm staying? I don't know who you take me for..." the tom's voice growled softly, and he paused before making his exit. "You obviously don't know who I am, so try not to judge me so early on. Now someone's got some hunting to do for the kit." the loner skulked away in a bad mood, not looking back as he sniffed at the soft ground for any prey he could give to the malnourished kit.

Fish barely lifted his head, still drowsy and weak but hearing the cats talk, he though they might have sounded a tad angry and he thought it would be because he fell asleep. Shaking his head and stretching for a moment he tried to wake a little more. It helped a little but sleep was still in his eyes as he looked up at Frost and purred. Not quite realizing who she was he rubbed the top of his head against her chin.

"Mama? I missed you. I'm sorry your mad, I'll be better",

He then realized his fur was cleaned and gave it a good shake feeling it up and pressing closer to Frost, as he laid there half awake and purring so loud you head it as if you were laying an ear to his side.

[ Short. Excuse that pls !! ]

True, leaving a kitten behind. Even though it had been abandon previously maybe leaving it was a bad idea? But I'm not going to let that slide. He thinks he can win this fight? Pfft. frosts eyes lightened, "he's old enough to have come and watched. Maybe even napped by the river side while you hunted could he not?" she meows with a smooth seductive tone, looking smug. She than bent to lick at her paw gracefully, looking over at him with an eyebrow raised curiously. Than the kittens soft mewls broke her seductive stare and she flicked her Attenion back to fish. The kitten had waken during the qaurrel, and now she wasn't so sure she wanted to hear what he had to say. Her ears nervously, pinned to the back of her head and heated up. She recoiled her hapead quickly and than got to her paws allowing the kitten to lay off from her stomach. She swallowed the bile raising in her throat, casting a glance over in silvers direction. Maybe he heard that too. Never, ins that, I have better things to do now. her teeth chattering and bell jangling on her throat she bent to nuzzle the kitten gently, "It's frost, fish I'm not your mother. Silver... He went to go find her. Yeah? And hunting, I think he's going to the river just for you" she meows calmly, nuzzling his forehead in return. she attempted reasuring the kitten but didn't seem all to sure that she was convincing enough.
