Now I'm sure something's up. "No, not yet. I do want another one. Do you have an apprentice?" He asked , smiling.

He gave a small nod, "Ah, I do actually. Spiderpaw is her name." he told brightly. This felt good. Being casual, and semi relaxed felt good. He'd endured so much drama with family he just wanted to sleep, but today he would have to do a training session with his apprentice soon. It had been a week or two since the last one, and she was learning quickly. She reminded him of his younger self a bit, which was nostalgic and funny at the same time.

The she-cat let out an agitated sigh, trying her best to shove the larger cat off. "Oh come on Snail, you can't expect me to carry you! You're twice my size!" She whined, pouting underneath him - she doubted he could see it though, which upset her even more. But Mintflower was not the type of she-cat to give up a challenge; Snailriver would not win. She thought about her options for a moment, ignoring his mock-snoring best she could. Soon enough, a trick her mentor had taught her appeared in her mind like a lightbulb and the molly smirked proudly. She quickly spun herself around, so that her paws were against Snailriver's underbelly, and kicked him off her with as much force as she could muster without actually harming the tom - not that she could do all that much harm with sheathed claws anyway, but a little caution couldn't hurt. She giggled to herself as the tom fell next to her, mud splashing up in all directions. The she-cat quickly stood to her paws, smirking down at him proudly, "You can walk yourself to the river, your highness. And for the record, 'Snail' is the prefix of your name, not the suffix; if you're going to insult me, at least do it properly," She retaliated, turning in the direction of the river with a playful "hmph", her tail lashing through the air mock-annoyance.
Snailriver stood up, in mild shock. His fur was dirty again, more mud than anything. Watching Mintflower, no Mintsnail, walk towards the river slowly he just called out, "And you're proving me right. Slow mover, Mintsnail." He quickly caught up to her and pushed her with his flank, watching her stutter before she regained her balance. "You think we gonna catch some fish do ye?" As they neared the river he saw that she headed for his spot and before they reached it he purposely stepped in front of her, so she was forced to stop or slide into the mud next to her. The tom stopped to laugh as he watched her short legs spin on the muddy shore before collapsing under her. "You are most certainly a fan of mud aren't you. To change your name, shouldn't we call you Mudsnail? Until your fur recovers it's white color anyway."

It was almost difficult, deciding what to ask since his own training was unique in that Leopardshine seemingly had no interest in him except as a prop, or when he'd attempted to sacrifice him. Realizing he'd forgotten about the wall in the midst of his cognitions, Fawnpaw scrambled back to work and weaved in another reed with precision, surveying the placement before moving on. "When you were an apprentice?" Fawnpaw mused through a daydreaming murmur, mostly to himself as he thought about that, the passage of time an odd concept that was still foreign to him. "Jeez, that must've been—" And thankfully, he had enough sense to cut off his mental math since it occurred to him that it might be offensive, but not without a sheepish grin and a mumbled albeit hurried apology. "Uh. Anyway, yeah. Thanks. I kind of did. Need help, that is." Inhaling, he tensed as the subject of his training arose, and he willed himself to stay calm about this. "Well, not quite— it's just that, my mentor… sort of…" as he spoke, he pawed at the ground, searching for the right words, "died. Leopardshine was training me, and Fallenstar hasn't appointed anyone else. I haven't asked him to, it's— weird, moving on like that." He didn't know how else to describe it but was once again submerged in his own thoughts, barely making progress on the task itself.
[Tried to split it up a little bit so it was easier to read ;-; sorry if it's quite long]

Frostflight listened with interest as Fawnpaw began to speak, though he was only half-focused on the question as he slowly began to weave in another reed. Slowly, he attached it to the tip of his claw, curving with delicacy to wrap it behind... then over again... then behind once more. His training though? How was that going? SNAP. The silver tabby let out a quiet sigh, staring at the bit of reed now attached to his paw by the end of his claw. "I don't know how I do it wrong everytime." He mumbled quietly to himself, before deciding it was best if he just kept Fawnpaw company rather than destroy the wall - more than he already had at least. His work wasn't impressive to say the least, a newborn kitten could have done better! Though he caught the tail end of Fawnpaw's comment about his age and shot him a playful, yet stern, look,

"I'm not that old, it's only been about four or five moons since I received my warrior name!" A hearty chuckle left his maw, though he continued, "..And I think it's going ok. I'm not quite sure what I'm doing yet... and I don't know if my apprentice really likes me. She's very quiet and doesn't like ask a lot of questions." He shrugged a bit disheartened. The worry started to creep it's way up from his stomach.

"So far I've shown her the territory and a few simple hunting tricks. I want to get her out of camp more to help build up more muscle, maybe even do some training in the river!" That's not a bad idea!

It was easy to catch the slight tense in the apprentice's body. Frostflight froze with anxiety. Did I say something wrong? But slowly, his anxiety was alleviated as Fawnpaw explained their situation... their mentor... Fallenstar's lack of providing him with a new one. It was something he could relate to - losing someone important in your life. The fact that he could even relate made the warrior's previously confident posture shrink down to a more vulnerable state. He offered a solemn gaze, resting his tail gently across Fawnpaw's back in an effort to provide some sense of comfort. The silence remained for a few moments as he sat there, his own mind racing with so many thoughts and memories he tried to keep locked away. Finally, Frostflight opened his maw,

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you. I don't know the real extent of your relationship with your mentor, but it still is hard losing the people we know." Was that good? The only time Frostflight had ever comforted someone was his sister and that way before her death, not to mention he was only a kit at the time. "We can talk about something else if you want?"

Spiritflight purred. "I can imagine you as a mentor. Your apprentice must be so lucky to have you" He mewed, smiling. He tilted his head, another question consuming his brain. He straightened back up again. That's what it was. "Are you getting enough sleep?" He asked, grinning from ear to ear. He raised an eyebrow. "It seems like the serious illness has settled in" He observed.

Humor filled his eyes at his past mentors words. Serious Illness? Had he changed that much in just a few moons? A warm purr came from him, "Maybe it has!" he grinned. "You'll become more serious soon enough too Spiritflight." He meowed.

The only time Frostflight had ever comforted someone was his sister and that way before her death, not to mention he was only a kit at the time. "We can talk about something else if you want?"
"What? No, it's… good," he reassured but winced at the reeds that Frostflight had tangled into the wall already, some requiring to be fixed. "I mean, there's uh, this spot here that looks fairly decent, and— oh, wait." Fawnpaw had done that one, so he quickly cleared his throat. "It's still better than having no help at all, mostly." Although he didn't pass judgment on him since his handiwork was lacking as well, he was somewhat glad that the tom who he thought to be so mysterious, so admirable and cool, was as prone to slipping up as the rest of them. It made him slightly more comfortable in Frostflight's presence.

Fawnpaw blinked in surprise, unaware that he'd been recently made a warrior and was much closer to his age than he'd realized. Note taken, but he had enough sense not to comment.

Not just his eyes, but his whole demeanor brightened at the thought of seeing the territory. "Wow, you've even gone exploring? And you guys are going to go swimming soon? That sounds incredible," he meowed but couldn't discern if that was simply because his experience was among the worst. As if trying to prove that he himself could be muscular even when his body was squishy from a lack of training, Fawnpaw fluffed up his fur and puffed his chest. It was a display that was stunning — not in its appearance, but in how rapidly it faded again. Pawing at the ground, he admitted, "I... haven't been swimming. I know that's weird for a RiverClan apprentice, but I guess it never worked out."

At the mention of his situation, he took in a deep inhale, closing his eyes momentarily. "No, it's fine— he, um, kind of tried… well, he ignored me most of the time, but then he," Fawnpaw drew another breath in, recollecting himself since he hadn't relayed this bit to anybody before, "tried to kill me?" It wasn't a question, but the lifted end of the sentence sounded like one as his meow wavered, remembering the recent incident in which Leopardshine had attempted to sacrifice him but ended up dead. However, he dismissed the subject with a shake of his head, swallowing hard. "Yeah, maybe not the best topic," he agreed, "so.." Oh. Oh no. This was bad. What was he supposed to say? What should they talk about? Fawnpaw struggled for a change in subject, fretting and feeling his pelt heat up under the nonexistent pressure. "The wall is looking good." The words blurted from him without any thought except ohgodsabovethinkofsomething, and he inwardly groaned — it was a terrible starter, and the wall really wasn't looking all that good since he'd forgotten to work on it, a reality he attempted to amend by rushedly (sloppily) weaving in reeds.

He was not going to win against the molly, and she was determined to prove that. She regained her balance at his unnecessary shrug, huffing at the immature action - could he not win this competition using words? "Yes, I do think we'll catch some fish - well, I certainly will. I cannot say the same for you," She remarked, a snide expression on her pale features. The rain was lessening, at least. She watched his suspiciously, gasping as she was forced to come to a sudden stop as he jumped in front of her - her short legs struggling to find any grip on the soggy ground. She didn't fall completely, but enough of the mud had splashed on her from her struggle to regain balance. She sighed irritably, flicking the mud from her tail straight into Snailriver's eyes. "Even with a name like Mudsnail I would still hold more elegance and beauty than you." And with that she jumped into the water's depths, wading through the water powerfully this time given she was prepared to enter the water's depths beforehand. She gave Snailriver an impatient look, as if to say 'What are you waiting for?'

Watching Mintflower slide into the water easily the tom stood dumbfounded for a second before gliding into the water next to her, making sure to splash her. The tom was starting to enjoy this... enjoy her, if he allowed himself to be honest. The tom usually didn't admit to such things and he felt strange actually admitting that he liked her. 'Behave Snail. Think... it'll not do any good,' his thoughts were a mess but the white and ginger tom just ducked into the cold water. Fish... there were loads for some reason. Reaching out he grabbed one in his mouth before swimming up to the surface breaking the water with the flapping creature. Looking at Mintsnail, he saw that she was gone, she had probably also made a dive for the fish. Swimming further upstream as to not annoy her hunt he killed the fish quickly before scrambling onto the shore his fur sticking to his fur, making the larger tom look not so large now. Something he knew Mint was gonna try to annoy him with.

Mintflower watched the tom curiously, confused by his lack of insult as he simply got into the water and went about looking for fish to hunt. She opted to do the same, but her mind raced with thoughts she knew better than to consider. Now, now, Mint, you know romance isn't for you! Think of what your mama would say if you brought that big ol' meanie back to her! She reasoned, glancing over at Snailriver for a moment, icy eyes soft and contemplative for a moment as she remained still in the water. His back was turned to her as he returned to shore, so she continued to ponder rather openly. What would her mama think of him? Starclan help me she'd probably like that meanie! But she liked Rainpaw, and look how that turned out! Perhaps mama's advice isn't as awe-inspiring as she makes it out to be, and certainly not as trustworthy. If only her mother could hear her thoughts, she'd get a harsh word if Splashdrift caught her being so cynical. She loved her mother, very very dearly. The she-cat shook her thoughts away, her mind returning to a semi-tranquil state as she focused on catching fish. She managed to grasp one within her jaw, her teeth gripping onto the fish as tightly as possible. She returned to shore, and proceeded to snort and drop the fish from her mouth. She let out the most god-awful laugh she'd ever laughed, snorting as freely as she had ever allowed herself to before. "You-" She paused, laughing some more before just about getting herself under enough control to proceed," You look ridiculous! You look like one of those really skinny twoleg dogs, you know the really really fast ones! You look like one of them haha!" She exclaimed, her laugh echoing all around them, tears collecting in the corners of her icy blue eyes. Luckily she'd got her claws sunk into the fish beneath her, preventing it from wriggling back into the water. Her main focus though was on Snailriver's completely soaked appearance, and his grey-hound like looks. He looked absolutely hilarious to her, and it was probably at that moment she laughed the most she had ever laughed in her life.

Troutleap padded into the clearing, stretching her stiff muscles. Her belly growled, reminding her that she hadn't eaten since dawn. I'll eat after I go hunting, she thought. The Clan comes first.

Troutleap trotted up to the river, her tail flicking with delight. The afternoon was her favorite time to hunt, when the sun was high in the sky and warmed the reeds and the riverbank. She settled silently by the shore and gazed down into the clear, sun-warmed water. She immediately saw a glitter of scales in the water, moving downstream. She carefully stalked it, moving with the current until the fish paused. She took her chance, lashing her paw into the water, quick like lightning, as her mentor had taught her, and snagged the wriggling fish with unsheathed claws. It fell onto the grassy bank, and the young warrior reached down and snapped its spine with a clean, practiced twist of the jaw.
