Jay watched as the cat who had brought him in back up. He looked at Buckstar, wanting to break the silence. "I"m an excellent hunter and I do work well with others.", he meowed. The young tom looked around to scent if there was something else this cat was focusing on, but there was no one there. He backed up a bit ready to leave.

"Well, if you're sure you can handle yourself..." Buckstar didn't really have an issue with this cat joining. He seemed plenty capable if - what he was saying was true, of course. "You'd have to take a new name and train under one of the warriors here so we can see if you're fit for Clan life. Are you all right with that?"

The queen looked at her son Crowkit as he spoke of them sneaking into a den. "Did you guys get in trouble?", she asked. If they hadn't it wasn't no big deal, but if they did she would be upset. "You should never lie to anyone as your brother said. It can get you into real trouble.", Deerpetal added.

The young tom nodded his head. He wanted to learn other things just as well, so it was a good deal. "I'm totally okay with that. I want to show you how much I can do and learn from the experienced warrior.", Jay responded.

"yeah.. with a big scary cat!"crowkit squeaked. "He was big and the den only had one nest." crowkit added. He looked over to Eaglekit. She thought he was a ... loser? His own sister. sigh.. I guess I'll have to be braver..

"AHHHH EEEEEE" and off she charged towards it jumping and leaping for it but only resulted in banging her head somewhat on the rock. But it didn't matter! She'd gotten a foothold and with her paws secure she dragged herself to the top. "LOOK! I did it!" and she was dizzy as hell. But SHE'D DONE IT!

Kestrelkit did recognize that Swallowkit was better at climbing than he was, but StarClan knew he wasn't about to agree with her. He lived in denial quite happily, thank you very much. The tom-kit stretched out his limbs, arching his back and lifting chin high in the air to appear bigger than his was. He fixed his sister with a glare only an older brother was capable of giving.

"Well I've got floof too. If I had gotten to the tree first, I would have beaten you just as easily!" Kestrelkit's ears twitched when she mentioned the elder, the elder responsible for Swallowkit's victory. "You think everyone's nice, Swallow. That grumpy old elder was boring as dirt. I wonder how long it'll be till he joins StarClan."

Kestrelkit winced at the pitch of Swallowkit's squeal, wondering if his ears would still work after this. He watched her calico fur expand until she was a ridiculous, tricolored puffball. When his sister's charge toward the rock, uh-- TREE -- ended in the smack of her head against the stone (though not hard enough to seriously injure her), Kestrel's first brotherly instinct was to laugh until his stomach hurt from exertion. The tomkit only stopped snickering when he saw that somehow she had indeed managed to climb the rock. Amazing! First of all, it was possible. He could make it too-- and without banging his head. Second, yes, it did prove that Swallowkit probably really did beat him; Kestrelkit continued to blame the elder for distracting him.

"Get down, get down! It's my turn now!" he screeched, muscles coiling with tension as he prepared to execute the most ginormous leap he was capable of. He couldn't wait to brag to Wrenkit about scaling the rock tree in one jump.

Eaglekit rolled her eyes.
"He wasn't that scary. And we didn't even have time to prank his nest with thorns." she said, pouting.

Kestrelkit couldn't recall how the conversation disintegrated into insults, who deserved them, or what the fight was about in the first place. He only remembered when that mousebrained kit called him a coward in front of the whole nursery-- which wasn't true. It wasn't! Kestrel was very brave. The bravest kit who ever lived in ThunderClan, probably, and he intended to prove it.

Breaking the rules wasn't enough. He needed to aim higher-- prove that he wasn't afraid of anyone, not even the highest ranked cat in the whole clan: Buckstar.

"Wren! Swallow! Hurry up!" Kestrel hissed at his siblings in a lowered tone over his shoulder, tail flicking with impatience. His green eyes sparkled with delicious mischief as they adjusted to the sunlit den. Evening patrols had just been sent out into the forest, leaving the camp empty enough of nosy warriors that Kestrelkit, Wrenkit and Swallowkit had been able to sneak from the nursery unhindered. This would be perfect. No cat in the whole of ThunderClan would dare call him a coward after he courageously pranked their clan leader. "Buckstar won't be back for a while," he mewed. "But just in case, I need both of you as lookouts."

Rainkit puffed out his chest.

"I nearly had to fight the big cat to protect Crowkit, Lightkit and Beekit." he boasted to Deerpetal, standing on top of a small rock with his chin high. He saw Crowkit looking unhappy and jumped down.

"Why do you look sad?" he asked, trying to lick his brother's fur.
