There was only just enough space that she noticed him and rolled away in time to not get squished by the larger tom and bolted for the nearest tree and begun to scale up the side, desperately hoping she got up far enough before he could grab her and pull her down.

Snarling after her, Falcondive did his best to chase her down - outstretched, unsheathed claws reaching to grab hold of her hindlegs as she headed up the trunk.

Ideally, he wanted to tear her down and then shred into her. By the time he was done, he wanted her to be mince-meat.

Taffeta suddenly felt claws tear into one of her hind legs and growled, clutching tighter to the bark with her other legs and flailed the last legs at his face, trying to dislodge him and hopefully continue her climb away from him.

Though her paw collided with his face, Falcondive took the opportunity to try to hook his claws deeper into her limb, reaching with his other paw to snag her other leg. Keep his grip on her so she couldn't escape.

If it worked, he would then try to rip her from the tree - use his weight and strength to pull her down to the ground. Despite the blood and pain in his mouth, he was salivating excessively from the thought of slaughtering her.

She didn't dare let go, not even to pull herself up further, not even when the other paw lashed out for her, claws hooking into her other leg. Her claws started yanking backwards with the force of his weight and still she couldn't make herself let go, not for all the pain that shot through her toes and up all the way to her shoulders.
Finally, tired, desperate, let go pushing so hopefully fell on her back and not straight down. Straight down and she'd be at the mercy of this cat that seemed intent on killing her. If she fell on her back, maybe she'd fall ontop of him and be able to run.
Maybe.
But she couldn't push against the tree hard enough or in time and plopped straight to the ground.

Come on, come on, come on--

Falcondive was beginning to grow even more frustrated with her persistence. Why fight the inevitable? All she was doing was delaying her fate, and that pissed him off.

And then-- yes! Success. She was pulling away from the tree, coming down-- he backed off to let her fall, ready to take advantage of the situation when she hit the ground.

Plop. He did not hesitate.

He fell upon her like a vampire in the night, wicked claws aiming to rip across her neck and shoulder. Had he been able to use his mouth, he probably would have chomped her.. but as it currently stood all he could do was keep it partially open to reduce some of the pain.
