Peanut and Strawberry's territory [Open] - Page 3

Strawberry was lying in the nest when she felt a sharp pain. She thought nothing of it but then another hit her, harder this time. She gritted her teeth and the contractions continued for about ten minutes before she realized what was happening. "Peanut! Peanut, the kits! They're coming!" she called. She gritted her teeth harder and pushed as a ginger tabby she-cat came. She had a bobtail like her father and she was so adorable. Strawberry nipped the kit's sack and moved the small kitten to her belly to nurse.

Peanut burst into the den from his patroling of their territory. He bounded to the back of the small den and looked down at his mate. She had already had one kit, a small ginger tabby. He purred and sat next to her to help her anyway he could.

The small tabby wasn't breathing, yet, but she was moving a little.

Strawberry pushed and a light brown tabby ( @MooingPanda ) came out. She nipped his umbilical sack and cleaned him, setting him with his sister. The next kit was coming now, she pushed out a smaller black kitten ( @Squirrelflight22 ) and did the same with her that she had done with her siblings. "I have names for them. The ginger tabby is Bluebell. The little black one is Sparrow. The tom," she licked his small head, "Is Gorse."

Peanut purred at all the kittens and licked them all on their tiny heads. "They're beautiful, and so are their names," he said to his mate. He laid beside them and made sure they were warm.

Sparrow moved towards her mother's belly for milk and drank her fill.

Gorse gasped as he breathed his first breath, then squirmed in the direction of his mother, mewling. He smelled milk and he was hungry. Bumping into her, he purred and latched on.

Strawberry licked Bluebell to try and calm her and purred as Gorse and Sparrow began to suckle. She went back to trying to calm Bluebell. "Hush, dear. You'll upset your siblings." she purred soothingly. She went to cleanong her again.

Peanut had fallen asleep with the kits when Bluebell woke him with her mewling. He purred soothingly and scooted closer to the kits so they would be warmer. He yawned and licked Bluebell once.

Bluebell heard a cat and felt the licks. She wiggled around, trying to find the milk.

Strawberry helped Bluebell to the milk and purred at all her kits. She was a natural at this mother thing. She licked Bluebell one last time and yawned. The birth had made her tired. She rested her head on her paws sleepily and watched her kits.
