The dark tom kept walking, looking at Brightpaw. "Elder, queens, and kits are supposed to be fed before apprentice and qarriors." He told. Humming in thought he looked straight ahead. "A warrior will reject the soft life of a kittypet,,,and fights are supposed to break out at gatherings." Addereye said.
The black tom said nothing after, just staring straight ahead. This signaled he was probably done talking.

Brightpaw listened, nodding at his words. At the mention of gatherings, her ears pricked up. I get to go to gatherings! No more waiting in the nursery, trying to stay up late so she could hear the apprentice’s stories when they arrived. No more longing stares as the cats left, wishing she could be with them. Her mind drifted, for a moment, trying to imagine what her first gathering would be like, but she shook herself out of her daydream.

Addereye seemed to be finished with the conversation, so she glanced around. Brightpaw thought she recognised where they were, now, from earlier, and guessed that they were close to the ThunderClan camp. My first day as an apprentice is nearly over. She tried to remember everything he had told her. When hunting mice, put your weight on your haunches. Don’t trespass or hunt in another clan’s territory. Don’t hurt kits, whatever clan. Don’t kill in battle. Feed elders, queens and kits first. Don’t be a kittypet. Don’t fight at gatherings. She’d probably forgotten something, though, and she wasn’t sure about the mice.

“Are we nearly back?” she asked, suddenly unsure of herself.

Brightpaw gave her mentor a smile, glad to be back in familiar territory but also sad to see the training session end. She thought back to how she had been that morning—a jumbled mess of nerves and excitement and uncertainty. I’m still sure that I’ll mess up, but I’m less worried about it, she decided. Addereye’s cool, and everyone messes up at some point, anyway.

She quickly forgot what she was thinking when she realised they had arrived back at camp, and that she was probably expected to speak. What do I say? “Er, thanks!” she meowed. “For training me. I mean, it’s what you’re meant to do, but, yeah, you were good. I mean— I don’t mean—” Stop talking. She took a deep breath. “It was fun. And you’re a good mentor. And I promise I’ll work hard, and stuff, and I guess I’ll see you tomorrow?”

(Okay, so I guess we stop here. How does this usually work/how are we going to do this? Do you want to wait a couple of weeks before their next training session, or just a few days, or a month? I genuinely don’t mind either way. Sorry—it’s been a few years.)

soaringgale was taken back by that - it wasnt often he got compliments. so he was left with a big dumb grin on his face, green orbs just that much brighter, and a little pep in his step as he walked. "thank you, i like yours too," he hummed with a smile, keeping up the pace and walking. he opened his maw, tasting the air in hopes for some prey. it was...very slowly starting to warm up, to hunting should start to get easier.
